Within 15 minutes you can apply a second coat of paint, after an hour it is touch dry and after 2 hours it is safe to handle. The paint will be fully set and dry after 3 hours. I found a dated gold mirror at a church sale not long ago and I knew it would look fabulous with a coat of paint. This month, I’ve joined my blogger friends from The At Home DIY group for another fun challenge. As the theme is “update with paint”, I will show you how to update a gold mirror with chalk paint. You can’t do it like you’re just cleaning something: you just polish it all off. You’ve really got to use the – these are great because they’re flexible, you can do them how you want. By using the wax to begin with it doesn’t take it off too easily. Some places I’ve gone right through to the wood there I really like that. I think it works for this very, very nicely. This paint dries to the touch in 30 minutes. However, if you’re looking for a more opaque finish, you’ll have to wait at least two hours between coats. While primer isn't necessary with this chalk paint, it is highly suggested for unfinished wood. You also don't need to sand your surface for the paint to adhere. If paint gets on the floor by accident, the latex formula makes it easy to clean up with just soap and water.
