About this deal

They would go on to have further success with third LP Be Here Now in 1997, plus four further UK No 1 albums before their breakup in 2009. I think I’ll spend this weekend listening to some of these tunes again to figure out where I am with them. keen to relive a time in the 90s when Oasis were briefly everywhere and everything, before they blew it all with Be Here Now (which I still love as well, so currently it's just me and Liam). I agree that the mix is quite muddy, with the drums sounding so “far away” compared to the guitars and vocals which are pretty much upfront and “in your face”.

I don’t care what people say, the first two Oasis albums are the best and the live tracks from them are nicely captured here on this triple platter souvenir. As Noel Gallagher explains, Oasis had almost entirely skipped the stage of playing theatre-sized venues – the mainstay of the successful British indie band – and instead went from pubs to arenas and then stadiums off the quickfire success of Definitely Maybe (1994) and (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? This year marks 25 years since Oasis’ two iconic record breaking live concerts at Knebworth Park in Hertfordshire on the 10th and 11th August 1996. Director Jake Scott described it as “a story driven entirely by the music, a rock’n’roll experience, told in the moment, like a visual stream-of-consciousness that is built around the extensive archive footage from the event”. Why you need it: Even if you didn’t go, tickets to the shows are still a favourite of Oasis and music collectors. We carry a broad range of CDs and vinyl (7”/12” singles and LPs) and specialise in indie, alternative, rock, punk, metal plus a few other genres. The shows were both the pinnacle of the band’s success and a landmark gathering for a generation of young people.

Liam and Noel Gallagher are executive producing a new feature documentary about the Knebworth concerts their band Oasis played in August 1996. I guess you have to bear in mind that it is a recording of a live performance which probably wasn't recorded with the intention of it being released. As the band and reminiscing punters assert here rather too often and too strenuously, with 125,000 people on each night, these were the biggest ever outdoor concerts in the UK (except 1970’s Isle of Wight festival was considerably bigger) and they could never happen again (except when Robbie Williams outdid Oasis with three nights at Knebworth in 2003). Since I was lucky enough to purchase just 2 copies of this release before getting a flat one, I don't know how many warped copies are out there. They were us, we were them,” Noel says now: Oasis’s ascendency was so quick that the crowd were still caught in their slipstream. His full length debut on Daptone Records is equal parts raw feeling and elegance and exudes confidence and charm. Half the tracks are banging and powerful, there's some hideous twee wank, and there's some dross filler. Whether you’re a newbie to the world of the Gallaghers, or perhaps you were down the front for the opening of ‘ Supersonic‘, there are some Oasis records, CDs, merch and more that no fan should be without. This release has the Parental Advisory Explicit Content label included as part of the album artwork.

What: Early demos of ‘Rock n’ Roll Star’ and ‘Fade Away’ feature on this exclusive fan club cassette. They played two nights in Cork, Ireland on August 13 and 14 but I can’t remember which night I attended, the 13 I’d bet on! When Noel tells the audience at the outset of the second night that history is being made, it’s understandable – this was a major cultural event, and it must have been thrilling to feel part of something that felt bigger than itself. What: This initial 12” demo came in 1993, months before debut single ‘Supersonic’ was released the following year and was the first thing the lads put out as a group. The assertion that mobile phones and social media came along and ruined mass gatherings such as this is tiresome and largely inaccurate, though it can’t be denied how deeply and purely involved in the gig the crowd is.Comprised of various labels we know and love at Rough Trade (Bella Union, ATO, Speedy Wunderground, Phantasy, Heavenly, Mute and more) PIAS [Recordings] filter through some of the most diverse artistry to our racks, which we greatly enjoy digging into. You and I are gonna live forever” – and the poignancy of how fleeting it is: “The years are falling by like the rain / it’s never gonna be the same. It’s fun to nerd out on guest guitarist John Squire at close quarters as well, giving Champagne Supernova a highly technical, almost hair-metal solo.
