The performance is decent, lasting me around 6 hours or so, although it's been hot here lately so I was sweating. Beautiful scent for a very great price. I would easily give even 40 eur for this one. It was a blind buy for me and I love it but if you can i totally recommend to smell it before you buy. Have you ever been in a catholic church when they burn incense? Because that's EXACTLY the smell and anyone who has will recognize it instantly. For those who haven't, it's like wood, smoke, earth, and salt. The opening is sharp and damp, and I love the cypress note. As it dries down the cypress recedes, and the vetiver note becomes more central. After the sharp opening, where the cypress blends with the vetiver as it transitions to the heart is my favorite stage of EN. The presentation is wonderful. The sprayer is also one of the best I have, like Dior Sauvage you can choose just how much you spray.

Uniqueness: 9.0 (unique as a strong vetiver dark and earthy fragrance; of course, I am not considering its flankers) Smells like what I’d think silent hill (especially in silent hill 2) smells like. The misty dreamlike atmosphere, the ominous and heavy fog yet relaxing and peaceful stillness present side by side, the tall trees that go on forever. Even though this is known as a winter fragrance I always associate it with a humid dry forest in the summer, probably only because I got it during summer though so take that with a pinch of salt. Nevertheless I love it, the flankers aren’t as good in my opinion, I think they do too much, the bitter resin opening of the extreme reminds me slightly of BO and the sport smells to me like a watered down and citrus sharp version of the OG, whereas the simplicity of the original, in my opinion, is what makes it so unique. I will say that this could probably smell strange on people's skin, I imagine the cypress could go sour or have the combination of vetiver and cypress smell rubbery. I really love this fragrance but don't go in with high expectations, it's linear and might react poorly with your body chemistry.While Terre d'Hermès is technically better fragrance made with better raw materials and impeccably blended, encre noire is far more creative at 1/4 of the price. People keep touting this fragrance as a sad, uninviting one, but I don't find it as that at ALL. You could definitely call it melancholy but even then I see it as just a very, very peaceful fragrance. It smells just like being at peace, whether you're sad or happy. No soy fan de la salida húmeda que tiene, si bien el olor a bosque de pino está ahí me atrae más el fondo almizclado tirando a cálido, lo veo versátil mientras no sean en ambientes cálidos-humedos Performance is quite disappointing, but this is a cheap EDT so you can't really complain too much... I felt like it came from the ground - how is this so vulgar, melancholic, decadent, screeching but WORKS at the same time? To really understand, I was curious enough to finish the full bottle, and its 2 flankers just to understand its execution. Today, as my senses developed through multitudes of perfumery experiences, I really want to relive again my first memory of the Encre Noire as it crashed my perception of this hobby. I think of Encre Noire more as a piece of art than an everyday utility. The bottle reflects this point of view - it's stylish, but not very functional, and some of the aspects that make it stylish - the cube shape, the opaqueness - also make it less functional. With that being said, I think it might be a little more difficult to pull this off but if you can, you will definitely leave an impression because of its uniqueness.

It's a dark, brooding, somewhat smoky vetiver with the added damp earthiness of cypress. As I also used to be an enthusiast for fountain pens and inks, I can verify that this smells nothing like the inside of an ink bottle. I suspect that the only reason why people bring up this association is because of the name, the same syndrome from which the Maison Margiela Replica line perfumes suffer. First impressions: The bottle is gorgeous. Statuesque. Minimalist. Dark. Geometric...and altogether aesthetically pleasing. It reminds me of luxurious dark-stained wood and obsidian stones. Definitely scent for mature person, I get little bit of ADG Profumo vibes but without aquatic, freshness. It has decent projection and lasts long, unique scent profile for sure.I get wood shavings in the opening. It was quite weak so I sprayed about 10 times. I regretted doing that because the smell came out stronger after a while and that became too strong to my liking. The middle is somewhat aquatic, and I didn't like it at that strength. After the middle, it became quite linear. Overall a synthetic, artificial woody scent that's at least unisex, if not definitely masculine. While it doesn't change my belief that EDTs generally are doomed to disappoint in their performance, as earthy scents go, this is one of the better ones. If you're looking for complexity, you won't find it here. Very basic note combination that smells good, works in an office environment, but is uninteresting. Those who like to wax poetic about "the hint of iris", or the "smoothness of the amber" should look elsewhere. This is a no-nonsense, linear as a 2"x4" frag that gets the job done without fanfare.
