The only changes to scoring boats are that there are no Rare Treasure or Public Lesson points, and the family Lesson cards can be scored under Private Lessons. Each player has their own boat containing 7 rooms, 19 rats, and 5 colored treasure maps. This is where you will be placing every cat you rescue and any treasure you find. Public lesson cards do not count as lesson cards for any cards, so you do not gain points for public lesson cards you have played. Card 148 (Public Lesson card)

The kittens place in the same way as cats and add to your family numbers when placed with matching colour cats and other kittens. Collecting kittens are a privilege only offered to the starting player each round. If you’re the starting player, you can choose to save 2 kittens (placed in their own field below the Isle) in place of a normal cat tile. You will still need a basket to collect them in, but kittens share a basket. Only 1 basket per 2 kittens is needed. You will also still need to lure them to the basket with fish. Also included as part of this expansion are rat meeples, new baskets and tokens (for use as directed on certain event tiles).Touching: Tiles are said to be touching if they are orthogonally adjacent. If you have 2 blue cats and 1 blue Oshax, this counts as having at least 3 blue cats. Card 116 (Lesson card)Rare Treasures are uniquely shaped tiles that are placed below the island when drawn from the bag prior to each day. You collect Rare Treasure tiles by playing yellow Treasure cards during the Rare Finds phase. Each Rare Treasure tile on your boat is worth 3 points at the end of the game. Since tiles are drawn at random from the bag, the quantity of Rare Treasure tiles made available throughout the game will vary. (They are rare, right?) Here your Sister is trying to steal tiles from the pool! Make sure she doesn't take the tiles you want! I enjoyed this little expansion and would be happy to include it in all ongoing plays of The Isle of Cats. In my opinion, it only added to the game and didn’t offer a massive change in gameplay that would detract from the original, beautiful game. And Beasts Oh My…
