In concrete terms, the Conversation Clear application is different from Smart Control. It doesn’t offer multiple noise reduction modes, touch controls, or the ability to change the equaliser on the headphones. After a few hearing tests to fine-tune the volume and clarity level, you will have access to three tabs: relax, communication and stream. Hearing loss is a silent issue, one affecting many adults – but as a topic, it hasn’t received the attention it merits.

The concept of Conversation Clear plus revolves around the three modes we discussed earlier. These modes allow you to manage active noise reduction via the relax mode, the transparent mode, thanks to the communication mode, or the balance between these two functions when listening to music via the streaming mode. RELAX MODE Is Conversation Clear Plus a viable alternative to a hearing aid, and if so for who? Would the product work for someone like you? You'll also be able to use the Conversation Clear Plus to take and make phone calls, which is a pretty handy addition to the feature set because you won't need to rely on your smartphone's speaker system to hear the person on the other end.Nevertheless, there’s still an unnatural tone to some voices. Some people sounded fine and much like themselves, while others sounded sharper, treading on sibilance (particularly with a female voice) and making their voice sound strained. Recharging the headphones, in their case, on the other hand, is a different matter. Firstly, the earphones must be perfectly aligned with the connectors, which is not easy given the width of the slot. In addition, recharging is particularly time-consuming. Starting with completely empty earphones, it took me 2 hours and 27 minutes to go from 0 to 100% charge on the Sennheiser Conversation Plus. By comparison, most earphones on the market offer a full charge in 30 to 60 minutes. Since the FDA announced the law change that allows for OTC hearing aids to be sold last year, many companies have jumped in to provide their own solutions. Sennheiser is taking a slightly different route by providing something of a middle ground — buds that do provide similar tech, but to help you hear conversations better in noisier situations. Sennheiser has just introduced a new consumer-targeted hearing aid, the Conversation Clear Plus. I couldn’t find any specifics here, or anywhere, so I thought it would be as good a time as any to share what we know…

The new soundbar isn't about making subtle improvements to those middling TV speakers -- it's designed to bring you gorgeous and lifelike 3D sound, all from an extremely small footprint. Plus, the traditional side of these earbuds means you’re getting Bluetooth connectivity, a 9-hour listening time extended to 27 with case charging, and that signature Sennheiser sound. When speaking to a representative, they do mention that the Momentum True Wireless 3 are the optimal option for those who just want a great music experience, but in personal testing, the Clear Plus do come damn close to providing that same clarity and warmth. Outlook In concrete terms, the relax mode is the one that will offer active noise reduction with a gauge allowing 0 to 100% of external sounds to pass through. On the inside, the Conversation Clear Plus feature 12mm full-range dynamic drivers with a stated frequency response of 20Hz–20kHz. Battery life is around nine hours in the earbuds themselves, with a further two full charges in the case; from flat to full takes around five hours using the case’s USB-C input. No wireless charging is available. Wireless connectivity is via Bluetooth 4.2, with SBC and AAC codec compatibility.Overall, even with external sounds at 0%, the Conversation Clear Plus don’t do as well as the best active noise-cancelling headphones, such as the Apple AirPods Pro 2 or the Bose QC Earbuds II. COMMUNICATION MODE The thinking behind how switching works is muddled. Switching between Relax and Communication is simple – a hold on the right or left bud depending on which mode you’re in swaps between them – but the Stream mode is an afterthought, accessible only through the Conversation Clear app.

This is likely to make some users self-conscious or at least feel uncomfortable after wearing them for a prolonged period of time. How much does your hearing aid help you to hear speech in noisy situations (restaurants, crowds, etc) Bluetooth is v4.2 with SBC codec support, and while the connection has been fine when used in pubs and offices, walking through Waterloo did cause a spotty connection.
