About this deal

The vanilla accord is at its most fascinating in the drydown of Kismet. On my skin, it is velvety smooth, sensual and dusty. Kismet is easily one of the prettiest oriental vanilla scents I have smelt in a long time. I don't, however, find any similarities between Guerlain's Shalimar and Lubin Kismet. Shalimar is far more powdery and has a much more prominent lemon accord. Kismet is its own stand-alone scent. I meant to write a review last time I wore this; I'm not wearing it at the moment so can't really do it justice. However... For the price this is a steal, if you like this scent profile. And even if you don't , I don't see why not this fragrance cannot grow on you. Previously, the past two times I wore Kismet it had been the other way...the base layer fragrance being dominant...and Kismet giving whispers of it's presence.

To me, It's more freshie than gourmand...wasn't counting on that, but hey...it still smells fabulous! My father's birthday is coming up and he likes and wears the original Joop Homme. His bottle is running low so i contemplated in gifting Kismet to him since i already have a couple of scents i would use in similar situations. This morning i did a spray on my hand and let's just say i'll get him a new bottle of Joop Homme hahaha. My greedy self is keeping this baby! First spritz... And I was hit with an overwhelming scent of hairspray. Whuhhh. I was so confused. Can't figure out what's causing it. After a few minutes the florals began to come out. It was another confusing moment as it was sour smelling florals with a tinge of hairspray, but when I sniff at my wrist it was much sweeter, mostly tuberose and jasmine (that I can discern anyway) But what I don't love is the price. No way under heaven given among men am I spending that kind of money on a fragrance.

I found Kismet to be almost identical to Rochas Moustache EDP to the extent that it is most certainly a clone of that fragrance specifically as opposed to being a Tuxedo clone. Moustache & Kismet are as close to 1:1 that you can get in a fragrance. It's something that a lot of women, myself included, would be happy to wear everyday in warmer months. I was sampling a whole bunch of white florals in a row, and this is the only one that really stood out to me. I thought it was a little complex, I had a hard time describing it. It was definitely the most interesting in the line up. It's such a wonderful, warm scent, at the same time super comfortable and wearable, and very complex and elegant. It's very much an oriental fragrance to my nose, which is a category that usually leaves me cold, but Kismet is exceptional in every sense. Opoponax and labdanum are prominent from the very start; at first they're joined by rather bitter citrus notes, which is nice, but the magic starts to happen a little later on when the vanilla joins the party. It settles down deliciously powdery and sweet, but in a balanced way - the resins make sure of that, and this combination is really a match made in heaven, and executed to perfection. This balanced character makes it very versatile as well; I can imagine wearing this in almost any situation and even any type of weather except high summer, and never getting tired of it. It also projects just right, and lasts all day. For me, it falls into the category of scents I could imagine having as a signature if I were still that kind of perfume wearer.Frankly I can understand the appeal with this brand and I can respect anyone who loves it, but unfortunately for me the tuberose made this perfume an unforgivable experience. And I conclude: I do not exclude the possibility that the fragrances of Killian's brand are not made for my skin. However, when a perfume lover chooses this kind of niche perfumery to buy from, they shouldn't end up absolutely scentless within one hour. Remember, microperfume vials come with a tiny dabber. You can miss out on some top notes when you don't have an atomizer. (important later) The price point requires true love for a committment, and while Good Girl Gone Bad is a beautifully blended floral, I also feel like it's too easy to replace with cheaper, probably nicer, equally performing fragrances.

The opening is a green, sweet and earthy mess. Not very pleasant yet you can tell that it will evolve in something very interesting. It's like grass, earth, nutmeg sweetness and patchouli. Smells like rotting vegetation with a sweet hint. This is a dupe of Moustache EDP Rochas and I would say it's about 90-95% similar although it might get more similar with an aged bottle. In Kismet for Men, vanilla-vetiver-patchouli does a good job of giving an impression of the benzoin in Moustache EDP Rochas. The opening fresh & warm spicy notes last longer in Kismet for Men, but the benzoin in Moustache EDP is more swoon-worthy for those who don't go nose-blind to it. Overall, this is a pretty good dupe, but not better than the OG Moustache EDP imho, since the benzoin is my favourite part. Moustache EDP has better performance, but it seems that many people go nose-blind to both of these. Then I can see why it's "gone bad": the cedar wood note that comes through in the drydown gives a touch of resinous, pungent edge that disturbs the previous petals bath. It becomes dry, almost cologn-y. This is a wonderful tuberose / white floral scent and for the price, I am really impressed with how amazing it is! It just smells smoother now. How can something have a more powerful effect and sillage...but no lasting power or longevity!?Moustache is typically twice the price or more VS Kismet, and for that reason I think you are better off going with Kismet for the money.

This is a totally respectable dupe of Tuxedo that gets the basic notes right, but in slightly different balance, and with a reliance on aromachemicals instead of naturals. I think it's a tremendous value, certainly when compared to Tuxedo. I think that "The Tux" gets closer to the proportions of the YSL original, but I prefer Kismet to The Tux: I just think that this is the better smelling combo when it's all aromachemicals. I think a spray gives you more of that peppery osmanthus opening. I was very concerned, and I couldn't understand how this was the same juice i got in my sample. It can definitely be screechy and off-putting with the atomizer.
