With an already excellent flavour, Grenade could almost have gotten away without the Oreo pieces, but they do lend a nice crunch (and additional ‘authenticity’) to tie this bar together. Grenade released this flavour in 2016 but, convinced I hated mint chocolate, I’ve waited until now to try it. The centre is soft, fudgey and slightly chewy, just like the previous two bars but this time with a nice chocolate flavour. The caramel layer adds a richness and a hint of salt which mixes well with the chocolate coating to create an overall flavour that reminds of, well, a fudge brownie!

Overall this wouldn’t be my go-to flavour – the banana flavour is just too artificial. It gets a 5/10 primarily because of the great texture and macros we’ve come to expect from the Carb Killa range. Peanut Nutter – 8/10 There’s the same nougat-y texture to the base as in the other bars. It’s smooth and chewy, with the crispies adding a satisfying crunch when you take a bite. The flavour that Ben and Jerry made famous and in doing so launched a whole sub-genre of hybrid flavours to our tables. Vibe : EVERY protein bar line has to have some variation on the classic fudge brownie flavour – it’s basically a right of passage at this point. Grenade have followed suit with the third of their Carb Killa flavours, so how does their offering work out?The crushed peanuts add an authentic peanut flavour and add a light crunch which does well not to disrupt the overall creaminess of the bar.

Whereas the ‘older’ bars all seem to hover around 15-16g, the newer flavours have been consistently up at 18-20g, almost matching the 20-22g protein in each bar. Before we start, I will say it smells amazing – very strong strawberry and buttery (honestly) white chocolate. One thing I will flag is something I’ve noticed in all Grenade’s more recent offerings – the slightly higher carb count. Appearance wise, it looks the same as the rest of the range, but with a nice looking dark chocolate coating, and there’s a strong smell of mint (duh) when you open it. It’s a complete contrast to the likes of Chocolate Chip Salted Caramel or Dark Chocolate Raspberry, but it’s a bit of FUN. Fudged Up – 7/10 If you’ve missed Grenade’s chocolate offerings, or if you’re just on the hunt for something classic yet sophisticated, this is the bar for you. It’s fudgy and chocolate-y with the perfect hint of salt. Delicious. Strawberry Ice Cream (Limited Edition) – 7/10 Chocolate orange. You’re either a fan or you can’t stand it. If you’re one of the latter, you’ll be pleased to know that Grenade haven’t gone overboard with the orange flavour here.I’m impressed once again, but as I said, fudge brownie is a pretty standard flavour. It’s not my favourite of the bars so far, but it’s absolutely worth a try, if not only for a break from your average protein bar. It’s soft and fluffy, with a nice crunch from the crispies.
