About this deal

The water extraction rate will depend on the temperature and relative humidity. At 10ºC and 60% relative humidity, the dehumidifier can remove 3.4 litres per day; at 20ºC and 60%, it can manage 8.5 litres per day.

This dehumidifier also offers a night mode which keeps the fans on low in case you want to use it in a bedroom overnight, but, I found the MeacoDry Arete One very quiet whichever mode I had it running in. If you're wondering how to get rid of mould in a poorly ventilated room, or trying to combat excess moisture or humidity inside the home, then a dehumidifier can be a useful tool in your arsenal. Finally, you can press and hold the humidity button to activate the fan-only mode, which just runs the humidifier as an air purifier. Performance Welcome to the latest in dehumidifier design: the new Arete range. This collection has been in development for five years, with our dedicated British design team working closely with more than 2000 customers to find out exactly what makes the perfect dehumidifier. When we discovered we could also use the dehumidifier to dry clothes, we got the Meaco Arete One 25l. We have another Meaco dehumidifier (the Meaco 12l Low Energy Dehumidifier and Air Purifier) that lives in the kitchen over winter, keeping our badly-built kitchen dry and our shiny new Meaco Arete is in the spare room drying laundry most days. How easy is the MeacoDry Arete One to set up? I tested the MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifier in a couple of different areas throughout my home to get a good feel of exactly what it could do. For context, I live in a Victorian terrace, so as you can imagine, dampness and mould can be an issue, especially when it’s been raining a lot. Arete’s Night Mode is not just for night-time but anytime when you want the dehumidifier to be as quiet as possible. Arete's control panel is easy to use and gives you complete control. With large buttons for the most-used functions, you can control the unit with a single touch of a single button - particularly for Smart Humidity Control and Smart Laundry. It's uncomplicated and efficient. It's wise to think carefully about the size of room or the amount of moisture the dehumidifier is going to be up against. The 12l version would suit a small-medium size room with mild humidity, but if you have a big or very damp-prone house - or you're drying a lot of washing - the 20 or 25l model really does the job well.

Basically, if you have a larger house with large rooms and a damp problem, then this is the kind of dehumidifier you should look at if you want to deal with the issue. But is it up there the best? The Arete One also has an automatic shut-off function when its water tank is full. At this point, the unit will beep and a red light will be displayed to alert you that the tank needs emptying. This is a useful feature that cheaper dehumidifiers tend not to have, and gives peace of mind that your home's flooring isn't going to be damaged by any overspill. There's also a small window on the front of the dehumidifier that shows you the current water levels. The advantage of the size, drying power and capacity is that the Arete One can dehumidify larger areas than your average 10-12L dehumidifier. I’ve had it working on an upstairs landing and a large downstairs hallway, and in both cases, it did a solid job of controlling humidity and drying out areas affected by damp or mould, although in these sorts of environments you need to leave it running for longer periods to make an impact. It’s certainly an effective dehumidifier. In a small bedroom with damp and mould issues, I saw the humidity fall from 67% to 52% within a couple of hours, and I had to force the target down to 45% to keep the purifier busy. Moon-shaped button for activating night mode (in night mode the LED screen turns off and there are no beeps)Overall, if you can put up with its increased noise volume and absorb the higher running costs, we think thePro Breeze 20L Premium Dehumidifier with Special Laundry Modeis a good buy. It's definitely the best dehumidifier for drying clothes that we've tested, and anything that makes wet-weather laundry days easier is a win in our books. It's a bit of a bonus that this dehumidifier also comes with an air purifier function –something most dehumidifier's don't offer – and I found it worked really well. It’s definitely worth adding in that HEPA filter which you’ll find included in the box when the dehumidifier is delivered. Arete has a large, 4.8 litre tank. Getting it out of the unit and carrying it to the sink or emptying point needed to be straightforward. So we investigated how other tanks are removed, and what is the best way, ergonomically, to manage the process.

The EcoAir DD1 Simple MK3 Dehumidifier can extract up to 7.5 litres of moisture per day in cold temperatures as low as 1ºc, so it's a very useful option for conservatorys, basements or garages that don't have dedicated heating, as well as unheated rooms in the home during winter months. Most dehumidifiers have their noise levels listed in their specifications, although in practice we didn't find that much variation between models, with most falling somewhere between 35 and 45dB. The sleek and modern unit with navy blue exterior stands out from the crowd in all the right ways, and whilst it doesn't have built-in wheels like most dehumidifiers of this size, the integrated carry handle and mid-weight build make it relatively easy to transport from room to room. If you want a more compact build, then there is also a 12L and 14L model available. A desiccant dehumidifier differs in that it uses an absorbent material or chemical dessicant to extract moisture from the air. This means they can operate efficiently in lower temperatures, down to just 1°C, and are useful for garages, basements, conservatorys, or unheated rooms in the house over winter. However, they're usually more expensive both upfront and in terms of running costs than a compressor dehumidifier, so unless you're looking to remove damp at cold temperatures you're generally best off with a compressor model. The Pro Breeze Premium also uses a lot more energy to do its work, requiring 440W of energy compared to the 12L MeacoDry's 151Wand the 20L MeacoDry's 216W. That means running costs of the MeacoDry Arete One are lower. You can read more detail in my Pro Breeze 20L Premium Dehumidifier with Special Laundry Mode review. It also offers Smart App controls, which means you can connect it to WiFi and operate it remotely via the Pro Breeze App or connect to Alexa or similar voice-activated devices. It has a decent-sized water tank capacity of 4L, and an automatic humidity sensor which means you can set your desired humidity level, switch it on, and just let it do its thing.

The intuitive control panel makes operation simple for everyone allowing you to get the results you want with no confusion. The large 4.8L tank means you will need to empty the unit less often than with comparable units for added peace of mind. Of course, it’s also quite expensive and for smaller rooms and spaces you can save some cash with a more compact 10-12L dehumidifier. But when you need serious drying power, you need a dehumidifier that’s up to the job – and here the Arete One has you covered. When I tested the laundry function on the Russell Hobbs 20L dehumidifier to dry t-shirts in a small bedroom, it definitely sped up the drying time' said our reviewer. 'The T-shirts closest to the dehumidifier dried in 3 hours, but those further away took aboutdouble that time to completely dry'. How we test We know that the thing you do most often is empty the water tank. So we wanted to make sure that was easy to do without too much effort and without annoying spillage It also looks good. The curved design is unobtrusive and relatively stylish for a dehumidifier, and it’s compact enough to sit against a wall or in the corner of a room without taking up too much space.
