About this deal

This was a completely different vibe from most vampire books I've read. I loved the college campus setting, the non-misogynistic frat boys, and the respect and love these characters had for each other. Aaron is definitely a standout character for me. He is THE golden retriever male MC of everyone's dreams with a dash of overprotective "if you touch her I will kill you" energy. What is not to love?

In fact, if there is one thing I think Cokeley NAILED in this novel, it is the pacing. The plot unravels at a very comfortable pace, the romance takes its time in the best way, and everything feels right in terms of the timing.I also wish we saw more vampire problems mixed in with their college life. For example there was more alcohol dinking than blood drinking. We also don’t see any college life besides the parties on the weekends. I do wish the story was just a little bit longer so we could have more character development as both characters were very surface level, and therefore, I didn't really care about either of them. I think the schmexy scenes would have hit that much harder if there was some more time dedicated to expanding their characters first, however, this book was still quite enjoyable. You have somewhere to stay tonight?" She asked after a moment. He shrugged and offered a small smile, scooping his latest book into his bag.

Are you going to kill me?" Wilbur whispered, heart hammering in his throat, eyes lowered to the ground. All through his youth he had heard the whispers of monsters in the night, learned the deep-seated fear that came with deep shadows and quiet corners and the dead of night. People disappeared, found dead days later, empty husks with their faces frozen in pain and terror. Some people were never found. He knew the stories, but somewhere in the last year, he forgot to fear them. Now he was gonna die for his arrogance. He wasn't prepared for the Man to laugh inches from his face, his footsteps as silent as the night around them. Wilbur flinched. You were lost in your head. Its' closing time." She said curtly, still looking wary. He shook his head and stood, muscles protesting weakly after hours of disuse. He mildly wondered if that would still happen if he turned. PDF / EPUB File Name: The_Blood_That_Binds_Us_-_Erin_Mainord.pdf, The_Blood_That_Binds_Us_-_Erin_Mainord.epub This book is marketed as a captor / captive - enemies to lovers to enemies - messy /relationship… with spice. And all of that is 100% accurate! But also I wanted more?I enjoyed the writing style and love a good dual POV that switches between the love interests, especially in an enemies-to-lovers story. I can't wait to read the 3rd book. Both of the main characters are strong willed, defiant, and unyielding given their past experiences and traumas. The relationship that develops is a slow burn, full all of the enticing tension, genuine disdain, flirtatious teasing you could want…. And gods, it was absolutely delicious 🫦 Family isn’t always about sharing the same last name; it’s about sharing a genuine connection and a piece of your heart.” I did feel like the story and the characters were rushing with certain themes, like turning Kim into a vampire and Kim and Aaron's "together forever," but at least they didn't take 2 books to define these themes. Imagine if that were the case 😮‍💨.

Every character was so well developed and it was the most enjoyable first in a series book I’ve read in years. Friendship is a blood relation of the soul, where loyalty, trust, and understanding run as deep as any lineage.” The love between friends is a kind of blood connection – invisible, yet deeply felt and unbreakable.”Something akin to excitement flared to life inside Wilbur and he disentangled himself from around Phil to stand shoulder to shoulder with him. Wilbur’s hands shook just like the night he first played his guitar, the most primal of his daydreams unfolding before him. He felt powerful standing over the man, drinking in the unbridled terror like a parched man to water. This is where he was meant to be. Some of the plot was told to me and I was expected to take it for what it was, (believe the scenario) but some things just felt implausible. If he didn't play his cards right, well... he needed to play his cards right. Besides, It shouldn't be too hard, most of the innkeepers around here tolerated him well enough anyway, so long as he wasn't a huge nuisance and paid his bills on time. I wanted to understand the magic system a bit more & have less descriptions on the plant life (yes the flowers are pretty but what type of magic does she have and how does she use it?)
