About this deal

Little Big Muff sounds very similar to the NYC reissue described above, but a bit brighter and a bit less bottom end to the sound. Built in a compact diecast box and powered by 9V. As on the previous Civil War version, a hand drawn/painted serial number appears on some of the circuit boards, though this is rare. I believe these are actual sequential numbers of the units as they were made. It is unlikely the number is sequential for the entire production of this version. The numbering was more likely repeated monthly or annually, or possibly repeated with each color or graphics change. Apparently the practice was discontinued for the second edition Green Russian, and all Russian Muffs that followed. Depite theirpopularity, Electro Harmonix's iterations of the Big Muff have always remained affordable. With most models featuring a versatile tone knob that can take you from doomy sub-harmonic tones to searing high-end, they also boast sustain and volume controls. The transistorized version of the Muff Fuzz, but now in a standard size pedal. Later, Electro Harmonix modified the circuit by replacing the transistors with an op-amp. 1973 – Big Muff Pi (V2)

The Fuzz pedal is the only option when you need REALLY gritty dirt. Here are our 6 best fuzz pedals you must try before you die, So, to put a stop to that and to satisfy the tone nerds out there (like me) EHX reissued this coveted pedal in 2017. The Electro Harmonix Op-Amp Big Muff Pi 2017 Reissuerecreates the classic tones of the 70s and faithfully recreates all the subtle nuances of this classic pedal whilst taking up far less room on your pedal board! Matthew Holl of Wren and Cuff is a Muff expert, and the Caprid is his tribute to the coveted early 70s Ram’s Head Muffs. He referenced four versions of the circuit and combined what he believed to be the best parts of each to create this replica. Even the circuit board and the enclosures are the exact same design as the classic versions. It also happens to look just incredible. After 1979 Version 6, Big Muff returned to production in New York again. The circuit designed by Bob Myer, it has some variants with slightly modified circuit, and the first edition circuit board was marked EC3003 and used four 2N5088 transistors, powered by 9V.Shown above - First edition V7 Tall Font Green Russian Big Muff with the ridged-side box. Note the poor paint that is literally flaking off. Clone Dial– Use this to flip through the different clones built into the Muffuletta. You have six options: Civil War, Russian, Pi, Triangle, Ram’s Head, and a JHS original. Shown above - The Green Russian Big Muff circuit. Note the "Follow the smoke toward the riff-filled land" lyric on the pcb. The third version of the Muff was released and the Little Muff Pi was also released in the same year. This is an op-amp version of the little Muff Pi, originally from 1971. A 1-button version, the Little Big Muff, was also released that year. It was a version with transistors. 1978 – Big Muff Pi V4 en V5

The Muff was further developed in the 1970s and had no fewer than 6 different versions, including the well-known Ram’s Head. The pedal became popular and many guitarists started using it. David Gilmour and Carlos Santana were the first known Muff users. 1971 – Little Muff Pi To help celebrate this milestone, we’re going to provide a complete guide to the Big Muff pedal so you can choose which one is right for you and pay respect to this amazing pedal’s legacy with a brief history. Power Supply: 9-Volt battery or optional 9V power supply from Electro-Harmonix, 9.6DC-200BI (same as used by Boss™& Ibanez™) 9.6 Volts DC, or other AC adapters capable of delivering at least 30mA. This is my first time posting and I am hoping you can help guide me in the right direction before I waste hard earned money on gear that will be counterproductive in achieving my long term goals. The first model is a clone of the Mosrite Fuzzrite designed by Ed Sanner.
