Sonos says it's the ideal partner to the Sonos Ray and Sonos Beam 2nd Gen, but is officially gently steering people away from using it with the Sonos Arc, even though (as we'll come to), it works great with that model too. Since then, there has been no official announcement from Sonos or any news or rumors about a release date for the new Sonos subwoofer. But it doesn't exist on its own. It's really made for pairing with one of three subwoofers, and it's a very tough sell for one, a fairly tough sell for the second, and solid add-on for the last. Protect the power cable from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus. This product does not have any user-serviceable parts. Do not open or disassemble or attempt to repair it or replace any components. Refer all servicing to Sonos qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cable or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.

The Sub sits on four feet to help minimize vibrations from transferring to the floor, but your results will vary with the type of flooring you set the speaker on. The feet also create a recessed area underneath the speaker that houses the only two connections, for the power cable and an Ethernet port. Other than the power cable, a cleaning shammy, and the aforementioned felt feet, there are no accessories. An Ethernet cable for the Ethernet port would have been nice, considering the price, but Ethernet is optional. The Sub uses Wi-Fi, not Bluetooth, so if you don't use Ethernet you'll need a 802.11b/g 2.4GHz router. But to get all these to a level where I was happiest with the added effect of the bass, I used the Sonos app to dial the Sub's output up to +5. Straight out of the box, it still made a difference, but it's much more subtle.Sonos is rumored to be working on a set of true wireless earbuds, too. A patent was discovered in February 2021 that showed a pair of wireless earbuds with a unique long-and-flat (wedge-shaped) design and a silicone eartip for fit. Crossover Frequency: Adjust the frequency at which the sound transitions to the subwoofer. By default this is 80 Hz.

Not only is Sonos making more speakers than ever, but the company has also broadened its horizon into the types of speakers it makes. It's now in the business of making portable and ultra-portable speakers, thanks to the Move 2, Roam and Roam SL, respectively. Sonos now makes more affordable speaker options, which we've seen in the Ray and Beam soundbars, as well as the Sub Mini.

Mercifully for me, testing this with three different soundbars, Sonos also made it easy to switch the Sub between different rooms – you just remove it from one room, and then the app will suggest a different room that has a speaker in it, and then handles the rest. With the Sonos Arc, I will just straight-up recommend it if you already have the soundbar and would like a better soundstage overall. As a long-time Arc user, it fills exactly the hole I wanted it to, and for a price I think is reasonable. Phase Control: Choose 0° or 180° to set the phase control for your Sonos Sub or third-party subwoofer. This can help integrate your subwoofer with other speakers in the room. (You’ll see this setting when you pair a Sonos Sub or third-party subwoofer with a Sonos Amp or Connect:Amp.) If what you want from the Sonos Sub Mini is a richer, deeper underpinning to the home theater sound from your Sonos soundbars, but without it being in-your-face or extreme, the Sub Mini is a good fit.

Unfortunately, there have been few rumblings of Sonos releasing a new "Three" speaker, but given that the company is trending towards smaller speakers (with the Roam and Sub Mini), we aren't giving up all hope just yet. What Speakers Has Sonos Recently Released?Using Sonos S1: Connects to WiFi network with any 802.11b/g 2.4 GHz broadcast-capable router. 802.11n only network configurations are not supported—you can either change the router settings to 802.11b/g/n or connect a Sonos product to your router. Use only the supplied power cord to connect to a power outlet (using a third party power cord will void your warranty). Be sure to use the proper power adapter for your country. Push the power cord firmly into Sub until it is flush with the surface. Sub is designed to sit on the floor. You can place it in a corner, against the wall, behind, under, or next to any piece of furniture on any kind of floor surface.
