About this deal

Fittingly for a medieval castle, there is also a privy! Love that there’s even a roll of toilet paper, suggesting that they aren’t really that barbaric.

Far and away the most challenging building technique is the drawbridge, which uses Technic axles, gears, and chains to create a neat winching system. However, setting the drawbridge in position took us a few tries, since the diagram could have been a little clearer. As noted earlier, this build process is split into two halves with their own instruction manuals. We will be going through each of the bags, highlighting the key features and notable building techniques used throughout the build. Stage 1 – Farmer’s stall and wagon On the other side of the room is a writing desk writing desk with teal accents, and a fireplace sits to the side. A single twin bed will sit next to the wall, suggesting that one of these kids is just visiting. (Probably the one wearing Forest Guardians clothes.)Did he die? Is he reincarnated? Did he possess some old peasant? Very disturbing the more you think about this sentence. I’ve spent more time than I care to admit in this room, now if only I was able to sit down could I really put it to its proper use.

Reflecting her royal bloodline, she has an exclusive and unique torso and printed legs, which you can see beneath her armour. She also comes with a hairpiece and crown, to swap out her helmet. From the inside we see the dollhouse in full affect as each of the three levels is built in such a way that we can see the entire room, both interior and exterior but in two halves while at the same time splitting up the halves in such a way that it could be two separate rooms. With so much color variety on the inside and differing looks there is so much variety in his build. No stone is left untouched as everything feels very intentional and well put together. Stages 14-25 – Lion Knight’s Castle Keep Oh and we’re not done yet, there’s also a little mini-game that the designers have left where you’re meant to find all these different coloured frogs scattered throughout the castle! It’s a really fun and playful feature and I love everything about this. You’re treated to a walk down memory lane. If you’re a fan of Classic Castle, these sets that they’ve curated, detailing the evolution of LEGO Castles, from the original Yellow Castle, to Nexo Knights to the current 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle is a wonderful read. When closed, the completed model measures over 14 in. (38 cm) high, 17 in. (44 cm) wide and 12 in. (33 cm) deep, but it grows significantly when you open it up to reveal the interior. The shelf-appeal continues with some extra features on the side. There’s a nice blurb calling out some facts about the Castle theme, with a picture of 1978’s 375 Castle, 1987’s 6066 Camouflaged Outpost, and 2009’s 10193 Medieval Market Village.

There are a number of ways to display the castle, with the most impressive being the “fully open” view where all the sections are unfolded to show off the interior and exterior features. The trade-off is that this takes up a LOT of linear space. If that weren’t cool enough, she also has a paper cape, with the Lion Knights’ sigil printed onto it, which just elevates her to a whole new level of awesome. As a build(and as expected for the piece count and scale of model here), 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle demands a lot of time and patience to put together, spread as it is across 26 sets of numbered bags. It is also best considered as two separate builds, each with one of the two booklets of instructions dedicated to them, each as one half of a completed, final castle. In many ways when considering the cost of this beast of a LEGO set, it’s a curiosity to know if releasing the castle in two halves was ever considered, particularly for how strong each half works as its own fortified structure on the outside and snapshot of medieval life on the inside. There are just the 22 minifigures included in 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle, and with such a quantity there’s barely a complaint to be made. For a set this large, it takes a character count this high to populate it and, furthermore, the selection made available here offers variety, colour, charm and play to really help tell the story within the set – one that is reminiscent of stories past from the LEGO Castle theme. The raised gate obscures the shields in the armory, but you don’t really need weapons when you’re in “everybody’s welcome” mode. At one point, you’re asked to lay down a whopping 42 1 x 1 tiles, with only a single diagram for reference

This section looks into the kitchen area thanks to ball joints embedded in the walls. It’s an interesting connection method and one that snaps together easily. The good news is that there’s a way out of the dungeons. A section of the outer wall can be shifted aside, leading to sweet, sweet freedom. Special thanks to the LEGO Group for providing this set for review 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle – Set DetailsLion Knights’ Castle has instantly become one of my favourite LEGO sets of all time. I’m a big fan of Vintage LEGO (I get so much more satisfaction from my vintage collection than my modern collection), and a big Castle fan, so this in essence is my dream set. Beneath her bedroom is a banquet hall, with a large dining, and most importantly, printed shields on display. If these sigils and logos look familiar, you might recognise them from 375 Castle, which is a lovely nod to the heritage of LEGO Castle. EDIT TO ADD! Turns out I’m the one who’s full of it. Thanks to Jamin Hoyle for pointing out in the comments that the toilet actually empties outsidethe castle walls – and there’s a brown “frog” on the ground to prove it.
