We are aware that at the moment getting an appointment means a long wait on the phone lines (if you can even join the queue) at 8am; this isn’t fair for patients, or our call handling staff. We want all patients to have the same opportunity to access our services and for us to be able to prioritise based on clinical need. New system In early July 23 we are implementing a new system called Klinik. We believe it will help us eliminate the 8 am telephone lottery. In late 2019, Haxby Group, which manages 11 GP surgeries, became the first in the UK to switch over to the Klinik Access online system. Patients can now use a simple online assessment tool to help streamline patient flow and receive the most appropriate care.

The AI asks dynamic questions based on the information provided by the patient, following the history-taking approach carried out by a clinician. The triage capability provided by Klinik will allow our GP-led clinical triage team to prioritise care based on needs. In fact, two practices in Hampshire and Sussex are already geared up to take on Klinik’s solutions, suggesting that the company is well-placed to meet current UK healthcare challenges. Klinik Access is used by over 1,000 GP practices in the UK. It is one of the most popular online triage systems in the NHS.

Klinik’s online triage system then gives a preliminary assessment and flags up those who might need urgent care.
