About this deal

Stroud based Kitchen Garden Foods, the brains behind the delicious Wolfys porridge brand have secured a listing with British Airways for its Wolfys porridge and couscous pots. Mr Horwood added: “We launched Wolfys pretty much 10 years ago to the day and since then the brand has seen remarkable growth with listing across GWR trains, Waitrose, Ocado, Coop, hundreds of indie outlets, British Airways and now, easyJet. We live in an instant world and none more so than the porridge market. Just add boiling water and your oats are ready to go! Happily, there are many leading brands of instant porridge pots on the market and in our high street cafes. In a wide variety of flavours, even without added sugar, these instant porridge pots simply need hot milk or boiling water adding to them. Energy efficiency is a key benefit in today's environmentally-conscious world and is partly why we are installing hot taps in business boardrooms and breakout rooms for teams nationwide, as well as new builds and kitchen refurb upgrades projects.

He said: "To showcase the KettleTap brand to consumers at high street names, such as Waitrose and the Co-op, is a huge accolade. We have partnered with a fellow Gloucestershire business whose porridge brand, Wolfys, is unique. Each pot of Wolfys has another little pot of jam, marmalade or honey hidden inside, except in the plain & simple. easyJet will be the second major airline listing for Wolfys in the last 24 months with British Airways also listing the brand in summer 2021. And after supplying many samples, more product development and conversation, James heard the good news that British Airways loved the product and were going to list not one, but two lines. He said: "For us, as a small family run business, this is a really special feather in our cap and something that puts our amazing town on the map. Wolfy’s said: "We’re conscious of the sugar content of this product, and because of this we’ve taken immediate steps to remove at least 25% of the sugar from this line. We’re also looking at innovative ways to reduce the sugar content of the little pot of marmalade or jam provided in each Wolfys product.Wolfys parent company Kitchen Garden Foods, founded in 1989 and with over 100 awards to its name, recently secured a lucrative contract to supply its preserves into North America.

Stroud-based Wolfy'shas signed its second deal with a major airline, taking its porridge pots to new heights. The sugar found in Wolfys is not entirely from free sugars. In fact, most of the sugar is from the fruit in the marmalade, the milk and the coconut pieces. It is also worth noting that the NHS guidelines say: “Adults should have no more than 30g of free sugars a day” (also known as ‘added’ sugar) and “Sugar found naturally in milk, fruit and vegetables does not count as free sugars.”

Research has revealed that eating porridge, brown rice or corn each day can help protect the heart against disease. Wholegrains are already widely believed to be beneficial for health and studies have shown that those who eat the most whole grains seem to have better protection. It’s also a fact that youngsters who eat oats are 50% less likely to be overweight.

James Horwood, commercial director at Kitchen Garden Foods said: "It's hard to imagine a better partnership than that of Wolfys instant porridge, and an instant hot water tap! Porridge is the traditional breakfast of champions and traditional prison food, deriving from the word ‘pottage’ meaning ‘soup’ or ‘stew’. It has been doing the rounds for decades (actually the 16 th century!) yet there are more health benefits attached to porridge than many of us care to recognise.

It's hard to imagine a better partnership", said the man behind Wolfys porridge about a new partnership deal with Gloucestershire compatriots WCD Group. The research was the result of over 14 years of studying the diets of more than 100,000 people and along with corn, quinoa, brown rice, porridge scored consistently high. These superfoods have proven their worth in the battle with heart disease and other life-threatening illnesses. James Horwood the commercial director at Stroud's Kitchen Garden foods believes the linkup with Gloucester Business Park-based WCD group is a "sensible tie." We have a wide range of products (including vegan), many of which are much lower in sugar than the Coconut & Lime Porridge. For example, our Plain & Simple Porridge contains absolutely no free sugars” Most Read As it turns a little colder this week, it’s nice to have a hot rather than cold breakfast at home, at your desk or on the go! Or maybe it is time to look at your breakfast habits and make a healthy change?
