About this deal

Starring: Brad Dourif , Jennifer Tilly , Alex Vincent , Edan Gross , Fiona Dourif , Christine Elise The Making of Child's Play (SD, 6 min) — The vintage featurette is your basic, run-of-the-mill EPK piece, which functions purely for promotional purposes. One neat thing though, the featurette shows a great deal of the special puppet effects that went into the making of the movie. Illustrated collector’s booklet featuring new writing on the films by author and critic Howard Hughes America’s youth are often targets of all kinds of branding. In the halls of horror, though, there are few films that take that blind acceptance in this society and turn it into a physical threat. That’s merely one way in which the ongoing Child’s Play series, now seven films deep, gets its strength from. The other HAS TO come from Douriff’s voice work as the foul-mouthed Good Guys doll who only wants to kill, kill, kill his way out his plastic trappings.

What the original Child’s Play has going for it more than any other films in the series is the reality of the situation and how it relates to real life. We’re engaged by Andy and Karen and we’re concerned when their world is thrown into chaos, as well as the possibility that they may be torn away from each other. As someone who grew up with a working single mother, the film is very personal for me in that regard, as I’m sure it is for many other children coming from divorced families. The other factor is how gritty the film is. It pulls very few punches, even when it comes to Andy’s safety. That was 1988 and Child’s Play was the horror hit few saw coming. Two years later, Child’s Play 2 was released and fans came out to make that film another success. And so it goes with Child's Play 3 which was largely dismissed by the press as rubbish. It looks damn new again here. Feature Commentary with Director/Writer/Executive ProducerDon Mancini and Head Puppeteer/Associate ProducerTony Gardner Slashed Scene (SD, 3 min) — An optional commentary with Mancini and stuntwoman Debbie Lee Carrington is provided with this action scene that didn't make the final cut.
