About this deal

Admittedly, I don't get the hate, but Neil Cross made it even more impossible to dislike Zoe, impossible to dislike Mark!

Even Martin Schenk suggests to Luther that he doesn’t think he’s going back to prison, but could be about to get a job offer. Reed yearns for a big house, a big garden with a trampoline in it, a horde of kids to bounce on it—his own kids, their friends, their cousins, their neighbors. There's a killer who attacks at random, wearing a gruesome mask and knocking on doors until some sorry victim makes the unfortunate decision to answer. The killer ignores it and sharks through a haze of the Lamberts’ scent: their clothes, their deodorants, their perfumes, their cleaning products, their bodies, their sex. I stumbled across Luther on one of the On-Demand download channels having missed it's original broadcast.

Deep Work: Professional activities performed in a state of distraction-free concentration that push your cognitive capabilities to their limit. Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition. Luther creator Neil Cross has said that the drama is influenced by both Sherlock Holmes and Columbo: the nature of Luther’s intellect and how he applies it to solving crimes is comparable to that of Holmes, whereas the show’s use of the inverted detective format – or the ‘howdunit’ – was inspired by Columbo. He is an angry man who is compelled to bring some of the evilest, demented killers to his type of justice (or vengeance), often going outside the law. There's some moral ambiguity – he'll rough up crims to get what he wants, he's not a very good husband, and his most trusted ally is a patricidal psychopath – but in theory, there's little to differentiate it from, say, Prime Suspect or Cracker.Introducing this determined detective and the lengths he will go to to put dangerous criminals behind bars. The top sheets detail the kids who were arrested, remanded, and released for harassing Bill Tanner: dead-eyed rat boys, English white trash. It may have blazed a trail for "bizarre shit", but in Luther's 18-month absence, terrifying TV has become far creepier, and far more common. People look at him and see the big man with a big walk, but he’s really just a bag of broken glass in human form, smashed by the job. The story leaps between characters telling it, and without any element of instruction, also fills in the reasons for the original action.
