I love how, although the story has subtle nods to the original myths and tales, Alderson makes it his own. You wouldn't want to walk out without any clothes on and looking like well, looking like you did what you just did.If we gave a totally different person a magic potion that meant you two could fuck, would THAT person be the love of your life in a couple weeks? What I don't get is this: Faenir watches out and tries not to get too close to the staff because he don't want to kill them accidentally. I had hopes it would turn out differently somehow but it was a theory from the very beginning, considering he literally had been drinking vampire blood for years. I believe this was my first book with elves so I was more nervous as to whether I would like it or not but my worries melted away as I kept reading. I've read almost all of his published works at this point and have seen many of his social media posts. As someone who tends to put down books halfway through reading them, to have this book have such a grasp on me was quite impactful.
