Buffy the Vampire Slayer premiered on the WB network in 1997 and eventually became an enormous success. A repackaged 39-disc version was released on October 12, 2010, excluding the extra disc of bonus features. She balances this with the arguably harder life of an average high schooler, with her best friend Willow (Alyson Hannigan, How I Met Your Mother), a nerdy guy with a crush on her named Xander (Nicolas Brendon, Coherence), and her advisor of sorts, a watcher named Giles (Anthony Head, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters). Other shows with supernatural themes have had an inherent curiosity and popular following associated to them, but Buffy was different from the others, in that it handled basic storytelling and character exposition so well and the main character so identifiable, that there's a reason why people remember it to this day.
Season 7 episodes are: 'Lessons', 'Beneath You', 'Same Time Same Place', 'Help', 'Selfless', 'Him', 'Conversations With Dead People', 'Sleeper', 'Never Leave Me', 'Bring On the Night', 'Showtime', 'Potential', 'The Killer in Me', 'First Date', 'Get It Done', 'Storyteller', 'Lies My Parents Told Me', 'Dirty Girls', 'Empty Places', 'Touched', 'End of Days' and 'Chosen'. Dialogue is clear and generally well-balanced with some pockets of drop-offs early on in the series, but overall this may have been one of the last shows (at least one of the last in my memory) of the big shows that didn't have the ‘advanced' audio of six-channel surrounds. In addition to that, all DVD releases, despite being Region 4 are in NTSC, so the frame rate is also 24 frames per second.
In 2011 Netflix began streaming seasons 4–7 in the 16:9 ratio, but would ultimately revert to the 4:3 ratio. In Nordic Region 2 countries Netflix streams those seasons in 4:3 ratio, despite the local DVDs being in widescreen.The Stunts of Buffy, The Story of Season 5, Natural Causes, Spotlight on Dawn); scripts for The Replacement, Fool for Love, Into the Woods, Checkpoint; outtakes; the Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds video game trailer; and Willow’s Demon Database accessible via DVD-ROM. Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. It’s worth noting that Season 3 is still missing the Previously On openings (although some overseas releases managed to incorporate them on a few episodes). It was fun going through the Buffy-verse again and if you have the time I hope that you do the same.
