About this deal

Constant temperature ensures that the yeast or bacteria in the brew can thrive and produce the desired flavours and aromas. I thought that my old bottles with vulcanite screw thread tops were going to have to be relegated to a collection on a shelf as I had run out of the old fashioned rubber seals.

I use a heat pad and it gets my temperature to over 26 degrees Celsius (With thermometer Strip Mid way up fermenter). These items are usually delivered within 24 hours, but this can vary (anywhere up to 10 working days), and is unfortunately beyond our control. Placing the fermenter in an area that is fairly stable in temperature (albeit cooler), without large fluctuations in the temperature range. Moving the Brew Belt up the vessel will lower the temperature and lowering the Brew belt will increase the temperature. Remember, in low temperature fermentation may stall and in high temperature the yeast will produce off flavours.Whilst there is no temperature gauge the belt can be moved up or down the fermentation vessel to control the temperature. One thing I may try through is after seeing my local HBS this weekend he had one taped on but sort of spiralling around the FV not just a single band, may help to quell my paranoia of hot spots etc. If we do not receive photographic evidence of the damage we will not be able to process a claim and therefore will not be able to offer a refund/exchange. Designed to fit around 25-litre (5 gallons) fermenting buckets/vessels, it can also be used with two 5-litre (1-gallon) Demijohns.

The only exception to this is the tape we use which is made from PVC and needs to be thrown in the normal waste. The real difference between brew belts and heat pads are that you position the heat belt up or down the fermenting vessel allowing some degree of temperature control. If the heat pad has a tendency to warm the fermentation too much then by cycling the heat pad on and off with something like a timer can greatly aid the degree of control you have. I'm not sure if there is a technical reason for this or if it is a reflection of poor build quality. The lower the belt is positioned on the fermenting container, the higher the wort or must temperature will rise. If the item has been stolen from a secure location or by a neighbour this will need to be reported to the police. The superb design also allows it to fit around a pressure barrel to aid the start of the secondary fermentation. It is ideal for aiding fermentation with one or two demijohns or any make of 5 Gallon/25 Litre vessel, and is suitable for beer, spirits, and wine making. Our 900mm home brewing heat belt fits demijohns, 5 gallon beer fermenters, and larger vessels, The heat belt is fully adjustable.

Some mention it's a quality product that works as required, while others say that the quality is poor and doesn't produce anywhere near enough heat.Heating the yeast directly for too long is probably not ideal so you may want to limit the length of time you use a heat pad to just a week to avoid putting too much stress on the mass of yeast. The heat belt heater will then provide a constant source of heat to maintain the desired temperature. Most home brew heat pads do not have thermostats which means you will want to monitor the temperature closely throughout fermentation. The Heat Belt can be used to aid fermentation with one or two demijohns or any make of 5 Gallon/25 Litre vessel and is suitable for both beer, spirits and winemaking. When fermenting beer, wine, cider or mead the fermentation temperature is vital to the outcome of the final product.

With regards to the last point a means of moderating the heat output can be a very good way to ensure the fermenter stays exactly in the range you want. A brew belt may be insufficient in the cold winter months, the solution is easy, just cover the FV with a blanket. Consistent Temperature Control giving a consistent temperature during the fermentation process is essential to producing high-quality homebrew. This is a heating belt that goes around your keg or other fermenters to keep it warm so your yeast ferments at its preferred temperature. For ultimate control of your fermentation temperature, use in conjunction with a stopper thermowell and digital thermostat. This Brew Belt is designed for use in the UK and comes with an integral lead fitted with a 3 pin UK mains power plug. I use a heat mat where my fermenter sits nicely on it, I have a brew fridge so with the temperature control on both fridge and heat mat it keep a very steady temperature for whatever I set it at.
