About this deal

One of the reasons we love North Star Games is because their games are focused directly at family audiences. Each player begins the game with a deck of 12 cards, divided into four sets of three matching cards: High Five, Fish Bump, Switch It Up and the Happy Salmon itself. Since up to 6 people can play, it’s a great game to take along with you get together with extended family as well.

A player can almost always find a partner in Pit, and even when they can’t there are plays to be made (splitting a set, changing the collected suit). To entertain kids and adult alike, Happy Salmon should be carried in your bag for almost all occasions. Monster Match is unique among speed games for one simple reason: more than 1 person can get a match every round. As part of the announcement, the studio said it would re-release Happy Salmon “with an Exploding Kittens twist” later this year. There's four actions; a high five, a fist bump, switching places with another player, and the titular "happy salmon" where players slap each-other's forearms in a way that's meant to simulate a fish flapping around in dry land.Happy Salmon is one of those quirky games where it’s going to take you longer to read this review than it would to just play a game of it – though, I’m going to try to get through the game as quickly as possible. This will also become my go-to game for any sort of Friendliest Person contest where the goal is to play a game with as many different people as possible! Even the grumpy teenager, who when giving me a quote thinks he is too cool for this sort of shenanigans, but always seems to thoroughly enjoy it when he plays. Happy Salmon, published by North Star games and designed by Ken Gruhl and Quentin Weir, is a super simple to learn frenetic, family party game for three to six players. Hopefully, you will find someone else who is yelling the same thing (and thus has the same card up on his deck).

The colour of the case is noticeably different, but inside that you have six sets of the same cards, with the same actions on.

It was quite late and I didn't know these people, but I did it anyway because they promised it was quick and they were excited about it. The data points still change pretty quickly, but the other players are interested and invested in working together with you - matching with you means they get closer to winning as well!

Gamer Network Limited, Gateway House, 28 The Quadrant, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 1DN, United Kingdom, registered under company number 03882481. If you’ve got a really big event coming up, combine with the blue Happy Salmon pack and play up to 12! Please note: Virtual goods are eligible for PayPal Credit with the exception of electronic gift cards and software downloads. Not necessarily because it (used to) come(s) in a fish, or because its mechanics are revolutionary or because you'll be challenged mentally and spiritually while playing; it's so good because it makes some of the best use of the players that are standing around the table. For a frantic game with players holding their whole deck and tossing cards all over when discarding them quickly, the cards have to stand up to the beating.

Happy Salmon is a party game that you’ll learn how to play in seconds, but you’ll keep playing for hours. Happy Salmon is a party game that you'll learn how to play in seconds, but you'll keep playing for hours.Happy Salmon is a real-time game in which players are trying to get rid of a deck of cards by performing the actions on it together with another player. Originally designed by Ken Gruhl and Quentin Weir, Happy Salmon has been reimagined by Exploding Kittens with new artwork and updated rules. When you realise someone else in doing the same thing you both perform the action and dump the card on the floor.
