About this deal

But sadly, Out of the Blue was a massive disappointment for me, and I had to struggle to finish its last part. Robert Tregoning studied at the Glasgow School of Art before leaping in to a career on the West End stage.

But as the two spend more time together and Crest’s pespective on humans begins to change, they’ll soon be torn between two worlds. In a press release, HarperCollins quoted Cole and Heale as saying, "The irony is not lost on us that our biography of a politician whose rise and fall was built upon her ability to shapeshift with startling speed, has itself now needed a lightning retool to keep up with her. This striking necklace features an Imperial topaz of over 10 carats and subtle spikes for prongs, a nod to the sea creature’s familiar silhouette. Sjón is an award-winning Icelandic author whose novels The Blue Fox, The Whispering Muse, From the Mouth of the Whale, and Moonstone: The Boy Who Never Was have been translated into thirty-five languages. One moment they were friends with benefits, the next they were fully in love, then very torn up over whether or not they were manipulating each other, then broken up, then in love, then maybe broken up again? Then again, you see the greens and rainbows of the world painted over and discarded, while you savour any little piece of difference you can find. There are some extremely tone deaf and hilarious quotes that I’m sad to know NO ONE will ever recognize. Now, I don't want to spoil anything, but I'll just say that while it may seem like a very clichéd story (and I don't mean this in a negative way at all), it actually.

Announced by HarperCollins as Out of the Blue: The Inside Story of Liz Truss and Her Astonishing Rise to Power shortly after Truss took office in September 2022, with a planned publication date of 8 December, it was re-titled Out of the Blue: The Inside Story of Liz Truss and Her Explosive Rise to Power amidst the October 2022 United Kingdom government crisis. Out of the Blue follows a gay high schooler whose boyfriend broke up with him to immediately date another dude--it's then that a strange person washes up on shore. Aside from a mention of some people glaring at them for their androgynous outfit, all the characters accepted it and at no point was there drama because of it. There was way too much action all at once, and the way the characters acted was not in line with their behavior in the rest of the story. As a teen I enjoyed when my YA books had sex because it was like wow enlightening, so I can’t really comment on if it’s good or bad (I know there’s been debate). While uniquely Icelandic in topography and tenor, with a touch of the island’s supernatural charm, the stories traffic in the enduring and universal complexities of human nature.

I was a bit dubious about reading this at all because of the lowish ratings, but I so glad that I decided to 'dive' in anyway! Perry, our West Highland terrier, raises her head off my lap for a look, then gives a disinterested ruff and goes back to bird-watching through the car window. The characters go from goofy/naive to serious/angry and vice versa within a page, very unsubtly and incosistently. Like My Shadow is Pink, Out of the Blue is a meaningful reading experience, ideal for sharing and talking over .Out of the Blue transports readers to Iceland’s timeless and magical island of Vikings and geographical wonders, and it promises to be a seminal collection that will define Icelandic literature in translation for decades to come. Ross's choice of the Blue over Sean was in the mer's mind all the time, and the story let me hope not once, but twice, that they would end up together after a twist, only for the author to double back and say "nope, the right choice is to pick Home, not Love".

The Sea Star theme features a field of custom-cut mother-of-pearl starfish entwined in coral-inspired motifs, providing a snapshot of the sea’s fascinating ecosystem. The story takes place entirely in the human world, so it might not feel fully fantasy to some, but the world of the mer is so interesting, and really suffuses the way Crest thinks and acts. For example, the romance read to me as being upper YA with how much sexual content there was, whereas a lot of the mythology and characteristics of the merpeople seemed very middle grade. Elder Crab warned us about this, about humans’ obsession with gender and how labels and rules mean so much to them when it comes to the body.

Yesterday a parent came over to tell me how impressed she was by the book fair and that you did a fabulous job of selling the books to the children first. It's so important that little ones grow up and see their type of family set-up reflected in the books you share with them. There are times when they are oblivious to themselves, which is hard to believe with how much self-awareness they also possess. They may have been initially shallow-minded towards humans, but honestly who can blame them – humans suck.
