Clearly Nico has had a very positive influence on the band and I can see them going from strength to strength in years to come. Moving on to the album’s first single, “We Got the Moves,” this track is accompanied by a must-see music video, as the party has definitely started. During the worst of the pandemic, I remember the goofy humor of the “Hypa Hypa” music video lifting my spirits and I definitely wasn’t the only one. On 17 November 2012, the band announced after a concert in Düsseldorf that they were parting ways with their drummer Michael Maletzki; he was replaced by David Friedrich. At the last show of the tour, at Live Music Hall in Cologne on 10 November 2012, nine fans were injured after pieces of the ceiling fell down in the moshpit area.

The screams are full, the overall tone is heavy with underlying EDM/synth elements throwing back to the early sounds of acts such as Enter Shikari and Skip The Foreplay – but perfected for an audience in 2022. Less than two minutes long, the first minute is very 00s Europop with a twinkling piano intro, but suddenly bursts into the most unpredictably filthy death metal.For frivolous lyrics like, “We are young, we are free / sippin’ on booze on a sunny beach,” I’ll gladly bring out my glowsticks. By the end of this one, I found myself simply nodding my head along to the beat and even that was enough to cause some tension in my neck. In the following week, they had to postpone their UK/France Tour as well as cancelling their participation on the US Level-Up tour with Attack Attack! To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

In December 2021, the band announced that they would be going on a United States tour with Attack Attack! A marriage of pop, metal, melodic punk and dance, everything they do is performed with maxed-out energy and (an admittedly knowing) sense of the ridiculous. It’s got a bit of everything from EDM world (minus dubstep) and at times came across as a bit much to digest in one helping. But let’s not just focus on EC in this synth-metal-pop jam, yes it’s their album, but Conquer Divide offer so much to the mix that literally couldn’t be done without them. I’ve included the live version below so you can get an understanding of what you’re in for – and help you get pit ready in anticipation – because you’re gonna need that stamina mates!Opener “Pump It” immediately sets the tone, with what can only be described as an ’80s aerobics tune. And on their sixth effort ‘Tekkno’, it’s no different – as they once again blend brutal metalcore riffs with bouncy EDM synths and rhythms.

The album flashes by like lightning during the first listen, clocking in at about half an hour in total – it’s over before you know it. At times, it takes you right back to the anthemic pop days of the late 2000s/early 2010s, and at other times it pulls you into the modern day with its djent-splattered metalcore. You don’t get lines like “Shaky, shaky, sweaty, sweaty / You make my spaghetti ready” from Tekkno Train by any band under the illusion of playing it straight. Whereas with the other 9 tracks on the album prove, they are very much in their own lane at the moment.According to Hysteria Mag, "Fckboi" leans into a pop punk sound, while utilizing alternative rock and trap elements.

On 12 February 2020, the band announced through their social media appearances that the previous singer "Sushi" would be leaving the band. None of this should work, but it just does, I have not been excited about an album for a long time as this one. But onto "Tekkno" and this is a really fun, outlandish, rollercoaster of an album that really has set them apart from anything that is out there at the moment. If you felt like something was missing on previous albums, as I did, it looks like everything has come full circle.

It’s all designed as a rush in which subtlety is as foreign a concept as they come, and where a lot of the production reflects that in some pretty evident flatness. A certain edge that wasn’t there before has now become the raving pink elephant in the room, packed with never-ending energy and breaking every boundary.
