About this deal

This book is packed full of information on the Titanic and those who both survived and those who lost their lives. This novel takes a wee while to get going, but the night of the disaster scenes are very well done and you may need tissues! I also appreciated the extra information in the appendages, particularly the articles that had been published shortly after the disaster. From family visitor attractions to unique historic monuments, the Titanic Quarter has plenty to offer every age and inclination. Understandably, she was somewhat disconcerted to discover she was being posted to a ship which, in every respect, was the same as Titanic.

Mr Lynch says the Omar was "perhaps the most well known" of the lost treasures, as is evidenced by its mention in the preface of Walter Lord's book, A Night To Remember, the work that inspired James Cameron's 1997 blockbuster film. With a groundbreaking visual approach and clear, child-friendly text, the DK Eyewitness series has been a trusted favourite for parents, teachers, and school-age children since 1985. When he is not writing, James enjoys singing and playing and listening to music, and being with his growing family.A brilliant non fiction read for any fan of the titanic disaster, or any students studying the boat. JAMES BANCROFT has produced more than 100 books and articles, the subjects of which reflect his varied interests.

He clung on to a wooden crate which kept him afloat long enough to find an overturned collapsible lifeboat. As someone who loves stories about horrible omens and other supernatural occurrences that predict disaster, I was incredibly intrigued by this book and happy that my request had been approved. It wasn’t until 1955 when Walter Lord wrote the definitive account of the sinking, A Night To Remember, that interest in Titanic was reignited across the world. The book consisted of six different panels: the front and back covers, the inside of the two boards - known as doublures - and two end leaves adorned with peacocks, plants, skulls and Persian patterns symbolising life and death. As they ate, warnings were being sent about the sighting of icebergs that might imperil the crossing. Her maiden voyage from England and Ireland would be the showstopper of the Atlantic, but the ship was also riddled with omens. Violet had been a stewardess on board the Titanic and had volunteered for service as a nurse when war broke out. Sangorski agonised over every detail, at one point borrowing a human skull so he could accurately depict it in his artistic vision. The novel had been published fourteen years prior and the circumstances of its sinking were eerily similar to that of the RMS Titanic.

In this fact-filled retelling of its construction and doomed maiden voyage, David Long brings Titanic’s tragic tale to life. I am not a believer in psychic energy, but the author does a wonderful job of bringing everything together as the book progresses. This luxurious liner still has the power to capture public imagination more than any other vessel in history and more than a century later. Overall, I think this is a great book to read when you're looking for a bit of a mystery to keep your mind turning and want to impress your friends with new perspectives on an old story. The interior design of the hotel is a fusion of traditional and contemporary styles, where the original features of the Victorian warehouse have been allowed to blend seamlessly with the contemporary and undemanding furnishings and décor.
