The question now arises: can you replace an entire studio setup just by putting one of these things on your desk?

For acoustic guitars we will check the functions of the EQ system and controls as weel as check the internal cabling and jack socket.For a long time, I’ve had a “max slider” testing method, which involves just setting everything to its maximum possible value and seeing what happens. Roland just sort of assume you’re already an audio engineer (which might be fine for some people, because they likely are) and that you’re comfortable with USB audio interfaces. However, the GT-001 is sufficiently latency-free that my human ears couldn’t detect any kind of delay. This is not a quick process but we believe every instrument should go through our process to acheive an exacting standard of playability.
Thankfully a lot of the more modern units have enough grunt to process all the FX in a timely manner. If you’re looking to be able to apply FX to a guitar while also using a microphone at the same time, this is not the right product, unless you’re willing to supplement it with some other bits. The technician will check and cut each slot to make sure the strings both run freely but are not sitting in a slot that's too big. For a while these were laughable: a range of 8-bit sounds and effects that sounded like someone got into a fist fight with a robot.
They mention that it sounds good, has plenty of useful musical effects, and is great value for the money.
