About this deal

As with all rice cookers, one of the great pleasures of using the Zojirushi Induction Rice Cooker was the ability to set it and forget it. This model is very similar to the winner with one key difference: In addition to induction heating technology, this model uses pressure when cooking. Alert or musical tone: Inexpensive rice cookers sometimes lack this feature, but it’s a handy way to know when your rice is done. Tefal has various all-in-one machines in its range, but for rice cooking, this pressure cooker hybrid scores highly. Like pasta, rice cooks from the outside in; slowly cooked rice becomes mushy on the outside before each grain cooks all the way through.

In our 2018 update, we tested our three picks against seven cookers using medium-grain Japanese white rice (sushi rice) to start with. Test 2 – jasmine rice: We cooked 3 rice-cooker cups of a new-crop Thai jasmine rice, a common long-grain option that goes with a wide range of Asian cuisines. Because there’s just the one button to press, it’s easy to use, but we also found it to be a little inconsistent. The slow cook time allows the machine to make precise temperature adjustment to ensure that the final product is the ideal texture and consistency.Because, for such a simple process, making rice is finicky, and no home cook wants to put out an overdone or underdone batch. These little appliances also offer the ease of one-step, foolproof cooking: Just rinse your rice, add water, push a button, and then focus on the rest of dinner. Sometimes these settings, with the same grains and same water ratios, would function without issue at all. But like the Cuckoo below, it only gives you the remaining cooking time when the rice is about 10 minutes from finishing—and, more importantly, it couldn’t match the texture of the rice made in the Zojirushi Induction Rice Cooker. USHA has given a sleek and modern design to their electric rice cooker, which will amp up the look of your kitchen.

New for 2023, this 5-litre rice cooker comes with multiple functions that easily justify a permanent spot on the counter. Also Read: 16 Best Rice Recipes | 13 Top Rice Recipes | Easy Rice Recipes 5 Rice Cooker Options To Choose From: 1.

None of the machines we tested were an all-out fail; with any of these, you will be able, at the very least, to cook some rice.

This kind of heft is wonderful if you cook batches of rice for many people, but it’s needlessly cumbersome if you’re cooking for one or two. Models that performed well in rice flavor, texture, and cooking speed we then also tested with brown and basmati rice, and again with sushi rice on their quick-cook setting. The Cuckoo CRP-P1009S has a removable inner lid like the Zojirushi, making it easy to clean the starchy film that collects as the rice cooks. In addition, we noticed starchy water bubbling up through the steam vent during recent tests, and we have heard similar reports from our long-term testers who used this appliance at home. Other quirks like hard-to-read measurements on the inner bowl and a large size kept this model from being a top contender. The Cuisinart 4-Cup Rice Cooker had the biggest capacity of any mini rice cooker we tested, but it fell short on execution. When rice cooked by the two was compared side by side, testers preferred the rice from the NP-HCC10. Multiple grain settings: Any rice cooker can make white rice, but a great one can also handle most of the popular varieties, such as brown rice, long-grain white rice (including jasmine), or even basmati, with aplomb.
