About this deal

The design is sleek and modern in white and looks fairly intuitive to use – although I’m disappointed there's no touchscreen or smartphone app. It was very simple to use – you place it under the baby’s mattress and it will only sound if no movement is detected after 20 seconds.

Advanced software allows a second Movement Sensor Pad and Nursery Unit combination to be added, meaning it’s perfect for monitoring multiples.i sometimes forget to switch it off when i get my baby out of the crib and it goes off everytime without fail! I struggled with the pan and zoom function and had to Google how to zoom back out as this was not well explained in the instruction book. It has gone off a few times when they have rolled away and one of my sons turned down the sensor mat sensitivity.

The others, however, are of the opinion that the motion sensor element would actually make them more paranoid, and sleep less than they already would with a new baby in the house.

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date.

Also the sound one it beeps on the parent monitor so you can hear it's detecting movement (you can turn this off tho). The fact that you can add up to four extra cameras and monitor these cameras on the same screen unit. The AC510 Angelcare baby monitor has a 5 inch LCD touch screen which was perfect for our requirements. On first impressions, I noticed that the monitor doesn’t have too many parts and looks easily portable for travel, although a travel case is not included. I'm not one of these over protective mums but a baby I used to baby sit for died of cot death (not on my watch) when I was a young teenager and I can remember how horrific it was and I couldn't help but worry for years afterwards what would have happened if I had been babysitting that night, as soon as I found out I was pregnant it was one of the first things I brought. The video is a real highlight with a large, sharp, colour display, night vision and the ability to pan, tilt and zoom the camera to check on your baby as well as hear any sounds they might make. It has gone off a few times but this is when I have been too tired to remember to switch it off when I take him out of the cot. A 1-year warranty is provided by Angelcare® to the original owner of the product against defects in materials and workmanship. The unit will then show you at a glance if the baby’s room is too cold or too hot via a colour-coded display – white for normal, red for too hot and blue for too cold.

You could also position the camera looking through the slats of a cot, but we are using a Chicco Next2Me crib so this wasn’t possible – the bedside table was too low for the camera and we had to move the crib next to a chest of drawers. When any bedside crib is attached/next to your bed, the Sensor Pad cannot be used as it is sensitive enough to detect your own movements in your bed. The parent unit has a rechargeable battery as well as USB charger so you can carry it around and the nursery unit plugs in. My cot had slats under the mattress so my OH bought some woody/cardboardy stuff for shape and size of cot and placed it ontop of the slats and the motion sensor mat goes on top of that, it works fine. One LED converts about 95% of its energy into light and therefore does not emit heat, unlike a conventional bulb.
