About this deal

Full agreement, it is a true eye catcher in blue / black, kind of classic and bold at the same time. Come join the discussion about watch collections, displays, watch winders, accessories, classifieds, and more!

Tucked under that closed caseback, the Ocean Star GMT Limited Edition For Hodinkee employs the ETA Caliber 80 C07. It not only makes setting and reading the local time quicker, but the jumping 12-hour hand will also keep the date correct for the time zone you’re in. Bang for buck, this is a great True GMT with nice lume, date, micro adjustment bracelet makes this a breeze to adjust during the day. From a technical point of view, it is a less exciting feature, and therefore these types of GMT watches are more accessible.Beautiful inside and out, this timepiece flaunts a finely decorated Elaboré-grade automatic movement known as the Mido Caliber 80 (ETA C07. Some people do love a watch with some heft, and I get that, but it’s the size and weight combined that push this watch out of my comfort zone. Both are clearly in a dive-inspired case, with traditional tapered lugs, chamfered and finished with brushed facets and polished details for contrast.

The simple truth is that they are designed with a specification that makes them brothers from different mothers. The extremely easy-to-use GMT function offers twice as much freedom for those who are either by the ocean or on an adrenalin-fuelled adventure. the omega watch box arrived damaged, and the watch was never sent to an authenticator as advertised. These striking orange numerals are often associated with Mido and reflect the vibrant collections released by this Swiss watchmaker. I wanted the GMT specific for travel but if I had the money I would pick up one of the 200c's or the Ocean Star Tribute. Not only is this done while preserving the home time indication (shown via a red 24-hour hand), but the precision of the timekeeping is not affected as the movement does not need to be halted to adjust the local hour hand.

Made from 316L stainless steel used exclusively by this Swiss brand, its case shows off a sleek brilliance. The combination of a diving bezel and a two-tone 24-hour scale on the outside of the dial also brings a lot of visual highlights. On a continuous effort to stay at the forefront of watchmaking expertise, Mido introduced on the development of its mechanical movements, the revolutionary Nivachron™ balance-spring. So it was with some trepidation that I sat down to properly compare the two, as the BB GMT is a favourite of mine. The Mido brand offers mainly mechanical models, so fans of traditional, honest watchmaking will find it in particular. Dare I say the Mido offers more here, with a 0-60 uni-directional bezel to add a further complication of minute timing.
