In response to the climate crisis, countries in the region recognise the need to diversify away from reliance on oil, and to adopt renewable energy. There is also a strong desire to invest in training and education.

The project was delivered by former EcoStyle employee Nnanyelu Nwune, who worked at EcoStyle on a part-time basis while studying his master’s degree at the University of Bedfordshire. Since returning to Nigeria, Nnanyelu founded NCN Integrated Services, delivering renewable energy education projects to schools in Nigeria. Speaking on Nigeria’s Africa Independent Television (AIT) news channel, Ronan Mullin, the Deputy Head Mission of the Irish Embassy in Nigeria, said ‘There’s a whole industry here that’s waiting to be developed, and I think that these students and these presentations are a really good example’. The project culminated in an awards presentation for participating schools.
