About this deal

The Nova 7 family features an all-new generation of speaker drivers which have been fully custom designed to create the best audio experience for gaming, and all your other music, movie, and podcast needs. In addition, I've tested the headset during Discord calls to see how easy it was to connect and how clear the audio through its microphone sounded, and I've used it to listen to music which once again has made full use of the audio profile.

If you’re hoping to use this for anything else, it also comes with a 3.5mm port for wired connectivity. In essence, you can connect the Nova 7 Wireless to just about anything, though if you want wireless connectivity to an Xbox, you need to get the Nova 7x instead. One of the benefits of having that wide range of connectivity is the ability to connect to multiple devices at once, and SteelSeries has made that a feature here. Its multi-device, multi-platform support lets you connect to a wireless source and Bluetooth source simultaneously, so you can take that important call in the middle of a battle without having to grab your phone.

Why is SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 better than SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7P?

The following test groups have been updated following TB 1.6: Wired Connection, Bluetooth Connection, and Wireless Connection (Dongle). There have also been text changes made throughout the review, including to the usages and product comparisons to match these results.

Since it has that simultaneous connectivity, SteelSeries has decided to include separate buttons for power and Bluetooth. If you’re connected to a Bluetooth source and use the power button to power off, the headset will still receive that Bluetooth signal. You have to press that Bluetooth button to power it off.

4. Sonar AI Noise Cancelling for the mic

Hi-Res Certified GameDAC Gen 2 elevates the audio experience by raising the resolution for 78% purer sound* with lower distortion for quality unheard in other gaming headsets *in comparison to GameDAC Gen 1

We've converted this review to Test Bench 1.6 , which updates how we measure latency. We've updated and renamed the following test groups: Wired Connection, Bluetooth Connection, and Wireless Connection (Dongle). We've also added new codec latency measurements and provided an audio sample of recorded latency. If you're not concerned about price, the SteelSeries Nova Pro is an incredible gaming headset that also doubles as a high-end pair of traditional headphones. The Nova Pro is one of the few wireless headsets that is compatible with both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. That alone makes it an awesome choice if you have both consoles. There are two versions: one that works wirelessly with PlayStation and PC and one that is compatible with Xbox, PlayStation, and PC (only two devices at once). Yes, we know you can’t do a 24-hour gaming session on the reg, but we know you want to! The Nova 7 brings over 1.5 days of battery, and USB-C fast charging adds 6 hours of play from only a 15-minute boost, up from the 3 hours in the Arctis 7+. 7. Design A good PS5 headset can improve your audio experience, whether you play competitive multiplayer games or immersive single-player adventures. For those who game online with friends, a good mic is another feature of the best PS5 headsets that's important to note when making your choice. Additionally, the PS5 has some cool sound features, including Tempest 3D AudioTech, that can be properly highlighted by using select headsets, so it's worth keeping that in mind when deciding which one will fit the criteria you're looking for.Though the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Wireless is more than just a light refresh, you can still see the general outline of previous SteelSeries headsets in its design. The ear cups are oval where they meet the ear pads, and the headset still comes with replaceable ski goggle headbands and ear cup plates. It also uses similar materials, namely durable-feeling plastic for the earcups and metal for the headband (PVD-coated steel in the case of the Nova 7). That’s where most of the similarities end. Of course, a headset is only as good as its sound quality, and the Arctis Nova 7P is no slouch. Featuring 360-degree spatial audio and Tempest 3D Audio support on PS5, you’ll be able to make full use of the console’s impressive audio technology. It runs for a solid 38 hours of battery life.

The headset features support for 360 spatial audio, which makes in-game listening far more immersive and captivating. The Arctis Nova 7P is also compatible with the PS5’s Tempest 3D Audio. Microphone quality is good. My friends in party chat noticed I sounded 'like I was on the radio', as they put it, when I first spoke to them. A dedicated mic will always win out, but they're really good for a built-in option. Bonus points for the fact that the mic also completely folds away too - retracting into the left cup. The Arctis 7 and 7+ feature a revolutionary retractable mic design, so when you want to play solo, or aren’t interested in team chat, you can simply stow it neatly away. The Nova 7 takes this to the next level, bringing a microphone which now completely retracts into the headset when not being used for a super sleek design, and more on-the-go convenience if you want to listen to your music on the daily commute when a mic isn’t needed. 6. Improved battery

How does the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Wireless sound?

Multi-System Connect turns the GameDAC into a hub that lets you switch between platforms with the press of a button, supporting Xbox, PC, Mac, PlayStation, or Switch Speaking of features... Simultaneous Bluetooth!! It works flawlessly on all platforms. The Nova 7X works wirelessly on Xbox, PS, PC, and Switch. The Nova 7 and 7P work on everything but the Xbox (although you can use the aux cord for that at the sacrifice of convenience and sound quality). The Nova 7P changes out the game/chat mix wheel for mic side tone adjustment. The 7X and PC versions can still adjust side tone, but it needs to be done via SteelSeries GG engine. Those settings save to the headset and will be preserved when using it on console. Imagine a world where you are listening to a podcast on your way home, then you want switch to Fortnite and teamchat, but you don’t want to miss the end of the podcast. With Dual Wireless, it’s as easy as simply pressing a button and connecting to your PC or console, and then you can hear both devices at once. Revolutionary right?
