This may not have been the decision you might have made, but to me, I didn’t feel comfortable supporting Jay Kristoff and effectively promoting his work to help him sell more. It’s an injustice to many fantasy authors who sometimes struggle to even get a hardcover of their books published by traditional publishers.

I did like Kristoff’s penchant for smooshing words together (knifebright, daysdeath, silversteel… twatgoblin). He tells it like you and your mum are drinking in every word and he keeps going off on tangents, and it’s at the point where even your mum is trying to find a way out, but she can’t penetrate his monologue about society and how he’s been wronged. In true Kristoff fashion, it took turns I wasn’t expecting, blew my mind several times, and consistently broke and stitched my heart back together, ultimately advancing my therapy needs. And this time out, the "calm" before the storm gives us a lot of time with our favorite characters and introduces some great new ones.
