About this deal

CoolSkin is made from a combination of uPVC and GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic), which offers maximum protection. Not only will an ill-fitting door affect the functioning of your front door, it will also let in draughts and outside weather, as well as making your property less secure. When looking for a new front door, it’s important to get the correct measurements and choose a high-quality supplier such as Vufold, to prevent problems in the future. Simple to apply using a cloth or soft brush, it’s ready to wipe off in just 10 minutes! It can be used on both horizontal and vertical surfaces and can even be used on fibreglass (GRP). Polytrol dries to a tough and long-lasting flexible finish which does not leave a film – so it won’t peel or flake.

This is obviously very different to traditional timber doors that have a coating of paint over the top as a finishing touch. If this isn’t done, the door will be resting solely on the latch, which has the potential to result in long-term problems, such as ‘warping or ‘swelling’. Clean the surface with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly or use an appropriate solvent (follow manufacturer’s instructions). Leave the surface to dry for a minimum of 24 hours. Application of Polytrol Colour Restorer General directionsOnce or twice a year, make sure the drainage holes are clear and remove all dirt. If necessary, use water to completely flush the drainage slots. Worn weather-seals

You then need to sand down the door all over as that will further help the paint to adhere. After you have sanded it, you then need to give it a thorough wipe down to remove the dust. Painting The best way to fix this issue is by adjusting the hinges on the door frame. Start by removing all existing screws from the hinges and then inserting new ones that are slightly longer. This will help create a tighter fit for the door and should stop any warping or bowing. You may also need to add additional weather stripping around the edges of the door if there are still gaps present after adjusting the hinges. Dropped hinges: Dropped hinges are perfectly normal and will still occur even with regular maintenance. Fortunately, this is a problem that you can simply and easily fix yourself. Once the door has completely dried (which should take approximately 24 hours), you can apply the oils you need to lubricate the door’s metal parts. Using a brush or lint-free cloth, apply an even, generous coat of Polytrol. Leave it work for 10-20 mins and then wipe off the excess Polytrol with a new, clean lint-free cloth and leave to dry.You can use Dilunett to remove the previous orange-brown coating, however, Dilunett is powerful enough to remove up to 8 coats of paint in one application, so any other coats of paint that lay underneath the new paint will also be removed. Anoth customer achieved impressive results on their moped with Polytrol. They just wiped it on with a lint-free cloth, left it to work and then wiped off the excess. The Polytrol brings out the pigment from within the surface and leaves it looking good as new! Most exterior doors come with a built-in drainage system, using slots and holes in the bottom of the door’s threshold to ensure excess water runs off and stays outside your home. Whereas some people will tell you that oil-based paints work best, others will argue that solvent paints are best. Buy your door from EYG and you don’t have to worry about a thing – thanks to our ten-year ‘repair or replace’ warranty promise.

Some installers use WD40 to help give the door that extra shine; however, the effect will not last for long and, in the end, will not do any significant damage, but it will not do much good either.

Good preparation is key to a good finish. To have an excellent result you must begin with a clean door free to any dirt, grease, grime and mildew. As Polytrol work by saturating deep down into the surface, if you have any wax or polish applied to the door, this will also need to be removed before application of Polytrol can begin.

Once you have finished using Polytrol, clean any brushes or other tools you may have used with white spirit. Cloths can be left flat to airdry before discarding. After you have applied Dilunett, your best option is to then finish the doors with a paint, such as Owatrol Deco – our rust inhibiting primer and paint available in 13 colours. That includes removing any dirt from the surface of the door, cleaning around the frame, and even finishing the windows with a glass cleaner.
