About this deal

Amplified Animal Aptitude: Two dogs and a cat are able to communicate, even having a rather eloquent conversation about the nature of their relationship with humans towards the middle of the film.

Though Hong Kong Paws started work in 2005, it was formally established and registered as an animal welfare society in 2011. It works with local animal shelters to provide financial aid, animal care consultation and rehoming services. Sassy Mama team members have fostered many puppies from Hong Kong Paws before they went on to find their forever homes. Fill in the necessary forms if you would like to adopt or foster a dog or cat. A much more dramatic example occurs towards the film's conclusion. Shadow falls into a hole, and appears to be too injured to continue. However, Chance jumps down in an attempt to tell Shadow that he can do it. It appears as if Shadow is ready to give up, but Chance utterly refuses to let Shadow quit, even telling Shadow that he loves him. It must have worked, because Shadow does eventually manage to get out. Possibly the most stereotypically stoner-y of personality types, the ISFP is mega chill. This doesn't mean ISFPs don't care deeply about who's going to win the 2016 election, it just means that they don't feel compelled to fight about which candidate they support or why they support them. ISFP's are lovely friends to have, too, because they're very considerate, peaceful, and easy to be around. ISFP personality types don't rush the present or dwell on the future, preferring to take life one moment at a time. 7. ESFJ: Horse Ungrateful Bastard: The animals think of the humans who sent them to the pound as this after they had helped rescue a little girl lost in the woods. It's unfortunate because the humans were extremely grateful for their help, and only sent them to the pound so they could both treat Chance for his injuries and to have a safe spot for their owners to come collect them. Edward Youde Bird Aviary, Hong Kong Park, 19 Cotton Tree Drive, Central, Hong Kong, 2521 5041, [email protected] , www.lcsd.gov.hk/en/parksSTATUS: Ubiquitous and underreported. Like socialist ideology, the domestic cat is highly popular, yet holds proportionately little political influence. Adaptation Species Change: Happened in the transition from the book The Incredible Journey to the film. They're all the same breed types as the original, although the dogs have age and personality swapped: Shadow is Luath's breed type (retriever, though Shadow is a Golden and Luath a Labrador) and stone-cold determined personality with Bodger's age, Chance is Bodger's breed type (bully breeds; Chance is an American Bulldog and Bodger an English Bull Terrier) and devil-may-care personality with Luath's young age, and Tao the male Siamese is changed into Sassy the female Himalayan (a Persian/Siamese cross). In both versions, it's the young dog who has a bad run-in with a porcupine and the old dog who almost doesn't make it home at the end. Hong Kong Cats Charity (HKCC) – Adoption shelter for cats and kittens with monthly adoption events. www.facebook.com/hongkongcats Covers Always Lie: One cover shows both Shadow and Chance attempting to save Sassy from a river by pulling her onto a piece of timber. In the movie, only Shadow jumps in to try and save her, and no timber is involved. Animals are such agreeable friends – they ask no questions; they pass no criticisms.” – George Eliot. And as a Hong Kong vet finds, they can also help you make friends.

I first saw this film when i was around 6 or 7 years old and didn't really think it was anything particularly special. AS time went on i watched it a few more times and it started to grow on me as i started to understand the morals of the film, which i will come to later. For a while i left this film alone and didn't watch it for a while. When looking for an old classic film to watch a few weeks ago (now being 15), I dug out the VHS of homeward bound. After watching this i was left on a natural high that i couldn't really explain. The film gives an overwhelming sense of joy that you never really expect. The films nature of three completely different animals collaborating together to find their way home really sends a message home that no matter how different you are you can always find common ground, something that you all need. The way the personalities of the characters is chosen is truly fantastic. In that you have an old knowledgeable wise golden retriever, looking after or guiding 'chance' the fun loving if slightly clumsy young American bulldog, with sassy the clever, vulnerable but confident cat. The film follows these three friends or companions on a journey that is so realistically impossible it creates magic in that you start to believe that this journey can happen.

To this day, I remember facing my first consult. Alone. The adrenaline washed over me. My heart thumped. I forced out the pre-rehearsed questions I’d learnt and heard so many times over the years. Thankfully, there was nothing wrong with my patient. He was a healthy 3-year-old terrier who had come in for a vaccine. PREFERRED HABITAT: Under the sea. Some biologists hypothesize that the open ocean is generally more conducive to socialism (see Seahorse; Manatee).

I Will Only Slow You Down: When the animals finally reach their hometown, they cross through a train yard, where Shadow falls into a muddy pit and injures his leg. Despondent, he tells Chance and Sassy to go on without him, and when Chance argues passionately, tells the younger dog he's learned all he needs; "Now all you have to learn is how to say goodbye."Admission: WWF organises visits to Mai Po Nature Reserve suitable for individual visitors, students and teachers, and specialists. Book your spot here. Cub Cues Protective Parent: Bear cubs, in this case, whose whines (courtesy of Chance trying to keep them from taking his fish) cause their mother to come to their aid. Short Cuts Make Long Delays: At first, Shadow thinks that they can get home just by going over a mountain. When Sassy reminds Shadow it took them ages to get this far, Shadow tells her that they went the long way, and that going straight up and over the mountain is the shortcut. Nope. But that doesn't stop him. It follows a golden retriever (Shadow), an American bulldog (Chance), and a Himalayan cat (Sassy) as they trek through the wilderness of the American northwest to be reunited with their owners. Shadow was voiced by Don Ameche, Chance by Michael J. Fox, and Sassy by Sally Field.

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: The trio rescue a lost girl in the woods, and are rewarded with a trip to the pound. It's only to wait for their owners, but they don't realize that. When Chance flings the cougar (or, as he called it, "Arnold Schwarzakitty") into the air, he yells, " Hasta la vista, kitty!" Meadow Run: Two adorable examples, one when Shadow and Chance reunite with Sassy and once when the pets reunite with their humans. Mythology Gag: Before they take their stepdad Bob Seaver's last name, Peter, Jamie, and Hope's last name is Burnford, the same as the writer of the original book. Located in Sai Kung, Catherine’s Puppies is here to offer the help and care our furry friends deserve. Since its rescue shelter opens every day from 11am to 4pm, you’ll have plenty of time to drop by and meet the dogs before making your decision. Though called Catherine’s Puppies, the shelter has a lot of surrendered old dogs as well.

Chance: Me betray him? Who ditched who? I mean, not that I care. I can get along just fine without him. The voice acting for the animals is brilliant and very well done especially considering it's human voices for animals the scenery is absolutely stunning the animals who star in the movie are some of the most well trained animals ever put to film and you can really see that the people who made the movie really cared for these animals and treated them all with love and respect it's heart-warming. The Mai Po Nature Reserve is a World Wildlife Federation (WWF) area and is listed under the Wild Animals Protection Ordinance of Hong Kong, so while individual access is restricted, you can book guided tours to view the beautiful marshes. Over 90,000 birds naturally migrate to the Mai Po Nature Reserve every winter, plus are also some beautiful mangroves and a vibrant insect, fish and mudskipper population.
