I’m gonna be honest, Kessig Naturalist’s art wins it so many points. Look at that little wolf pup. Tell me that you wouldn’t do anything for that cute face. Go on, lie to me. Most werewolves are very aggressive and you’d think that a red lycanthrope would really push that narrative. And then there’s Hanweir Watchkeep, a 1/5 defender. But the best thing about this card is its duality. There’s not much else to say about this card. It’s a good green werewolf. #12. Daybreak Ranger / Nightfall Predator

The Shimmering Spire. So this is where it all leads. If Sartonia plans to destroy the heart of the ocean, the Draka would meet them. The Draka would fight them. And the Draka would stop them. If you want to have better control over the transformation of your werewolves, Rule of Law will help you. Pop this bad boy on the field and you’ve prevented the sun from ever rising. The wind whipped around Tarken’s face, his crystal scales creating a rhythmic chime that spoke of many things. They spoke of the pain felt deep below. Of the damage to their brethren each time crystal was ripped from the greater whole. Of the sacrifice that must be made. Just printing bigger heal effects doesn’t change the situational nature of healing and risks those effects becoming burn through cards like Embrace the Shadow. We also tested adjustments to Priest’s Hero Power, and some of those experiments were interesting, but Hero Powers are so engrained in the game that there’s a high cost to changing them—and a lot more certainty required before making that call. That said, Hound Tamer is a fine card. 3/3 for with trample and the ability to put (admittedly expensive) +1/+1 counters on other creatures is a good rate. Giving your other werewolves trample when it transforms and beefing up a tiny bit is also great. A sudden explosion sends crystals flying through the air, shards of death for any they might catch. One of the Atlantean harvesters rushes around in flames, its crystals continuing to blow out as the flames consume it. Despite the danger, Zaskia launches her Atlantean towards the chaos, hoping to pull out any Sartonians caught in the fray. Glinn turns his energy to the rest of the battle just as another Atlantean erupts and more shards fly through the air. A Draka falls from her mount. A Sartonian screams.

I wouldn’t usually pin white as a good color for a werewolf, but it works on Brutal Cathar. This 3-drop starts off as a white soldier werewolf that offers some temporary removal, which is right up white’s alley. Switch the game over to night and the red werewolf comes out to play. It’s nothing too impressive, but a 3/3 first striker with ward is still pretty good.Are you tired of me fawning over art yet? Well too bad.
