Mid frame the 7artisans seems to have a little bit of a dark rings near the edges of the blurry specular highlights, but when you change the exposure up to match that of the Mitakon they are again similar. The reason 7Artisans/Risespray focusing ring is more smooth and better dampened is due to updated mechanics.

The aperture is damped slightly heavier than the focus, but with it being the control that sits next to the camera rather than it being in the conventional position at the front of the lens, it feels more natural to me to try and adjust focus by grabbing at the aperture control. If you don’t mind manual focusing and want a very fast 50mm equivalent for your Fujifilm X-series system this is the one lens that I would recommend above all others. And having to reference a Leica lens in regards to build quality makes it abundantly clear just how well built this 7artisans 35mm f0. The Voigtländer isn’t giving you better sharpness or bokeh than the 7artisans, and the two lenses render the background very similarly with the specular highlights being a bit busy, with a pronounced “outer ring”. Performance according to specs isn’t great, but the lens has some very beautiful character, especially wide open. I’ve also added the screw on 43mm lens hood from the Fujifilm 35mm f2, and it seems to be a match made in heaven.

Comparing it to a full frame lens on a full frame camera, in terms of perspective and depth of field with the same framing, the 7Artisans 35mm f/1. PZ Zavod Arsenal vodpochivaet, navit yakbi to the show to Brussels robbed the exhibition copy could not be done so. The wordpress gallery algorithm/compression makes the images look really soft and weird unless you go to the lower right hand corner and press full size. I’ve also noticed some distortion – this seems to be most noticeable when closer focusing, though to be honest I perhaps havent shot it exhaustively enough to confirm that… One way or another, barrel distortion is definitely a thing here! Multi-mc layer coating: increasing the light transmission, which reduces flare and ghosting and gives you a greater contrast and color accuracy.

I am a very technical photographer - you have to be, in the macro universe - but letting go of my rigid approach to image capture and yielding to the odd character of this little lens, I was soon remembering just how much fun photography can be. produces soft images wide open, but one would be foolish to expect more from a lens this small and this fast. The hood does add a significant bulk to it, but hey, we all sacrifice something to be prettier right? This lens combines large aperture and compact size, light aluminium body and durable copper core mechanics.
