About this deal

Parisian fashion style is a bit more sophisticated than the classic French style. While French women do not necessarily adhere to current fashion trends, Parisians like to review them and incorporate one or two into their overall look. This may include the latest “it” handbag, trendy shoes, or fashionable accessories. Parisians love to mix classic, timeless pieces with trendy accessories. 8. Here’s a few steps to act like a Parisian during your stay in the French capital. Eventually French people will dumbfoundingly utter « Oh, t’es pas français ?! » (you’re not French ?!) So what’s the easiest way to be Parisian? Speak like a Parisian Four fabulous, smart, savvy French women offer up their highly amusing insider take on Parisian life, love and liberty. Full of personal anecdotes, life lessons and photographs, this is the only guide you'll need to channelling your inner Parisienne and oozing that certain 'je ne sais quoi'... Want to know how to be a Parisian? Ever wondered what makes Parisians different from the rest of the French? We caught up with French comedian Olivier Giraud, whose one man show in Paris “ How to be a Parisian in one Hour” has been seen by more than half a million people from around the world. And he explained all! Olivier Giraud Yeah, Parisians don’t go on the ‘Champs-Elysées’ because there’s not too many shops, it’s only like very expensive shops. Parisians go to ‘Les Halles’, close to ‘Chatelet’. It’s a place where you have many shops. Rue de Rivoli, now it’s better than because there’s no more cars. And Rue de Rennes as well, in the 6th arrondissement. If you have a lot of money you can go close to the Champs-Elysées, to Avenue Montaigne, for Dior, Chanel, Jean-Paul Gaultier… you know expensive shops. Kit yourself out at Merci ( 111 boulevard Beaumarchais, +33 01 42 77 00 33), the cult concept store near the Bastille, or at the style emporium Colette in the rue Saint Honoré ( No. 213; +33 1 55 35 33 90).

Beauf in French is the stereotypical, classless chump who watches football (soccer) everyday, drinks lots of beer and is culture-less. It’s not a good thing to be a beauf – which is why Parisians love using the term because it heightens the speaker’s own social standing. In fact, in Paris, beauf can be anyone you don’t know or anything you don’t particularity care for. How can this not be a charming guide to being a woman? Where else could you read such suggestions as “Be unfaithful: cheat on your perfume, but only on cold days” or “Go to the theatre, to museums, and concerts as often as possible. Culture is like eating fruit and vegetables: it gives you a healthy glow.” When was the last time that a style guide told you to get out of the stores and head to the museums? This book is probably best suited for those who can understand its self-ironic and sarcastic sense of humour. If you don't get it, you might find it a bit cold, snobbish and pretentious. I don't think it was ever supposed to be taken completely seriously, but then again who knows? Maybe that's part of its charm- not being quite sure of what it is supposed to be about. This book is somewhat hard to describe, for despite the fact that it was written by four woman, it seems to be a work of a single author (albeit one that is prone to switch subjects all the time)- or maybe the four of them are such good friends they can end each other sentences? There is a bit of everything in this one, from French movie recommendations to lessons in feminism, but I ended up quite enjoying all that chaos. I would have preferred if the voices were a bit more distinct, this way I was left wondering who wrote what.

Parisian hair is never too brushed and coiffed. Instead, Parisians leave their hair as it naturally is. It might be tossed up into a messy bun, or hung loosely down below their shoulders. If your hair is flat, try sleeping with your wet hair pulled up overnight to give it some volume for the next day. Seasonal Parisian Style Be generous [with mascara] on your top and bottom lashes, to accentuate your look and disguise any bags under your eyes.” In truth, more than wanting to look young—which is but a fleeting illusion—they want above all to become the best possible version of themselves, outside and in, at any age” Janine Marsh I haven’t really had that many bad experiences. But I’ve had the look that you described, you know where I’ve walked in and just asked for a cup of coffee. And then they look at me as if I’ve I asked for something really unspeakable, rather than a cup of coffee. But you’re right – they’re fast. And you get what you want. How To Be Parisian brilliantly deconstructs the French woman's views on culture, fashion and attitude. Cross-body leather bag – A.P.C. Grace shoulder bag | Polène Nodde Edition Cognac | Sézane Milo Classic bag Did you ever notice why restaurants don’t serve food around 6PM, or why French people are seen eating their dinner at 8, 9, or even 10PM?
