It sure is not perfect but you can see the talent (and I guess with an editor this would reach its full potential). I wish there was more background on the characters and not so much vague mentions of side characters.

i spent four hours just nonstop reading this book because it was just so addicting and now i’m sitting here with smeared mascara and puffy eyes, about to cry again. To finally read a book that so perfectly describes having depression but gives hope for more than the darkness was amazing.

things i liked: the author’s depiction of siblings — Eira (i almost cried) in particular, the found family between the guys, the Spanish, the song lyrics before each chapter, that one Chase Atlantic bit, the coffee tasting, and any hockey / skating subplot is always fun. They live on two different sides of the country, rarely see each other, especially when one has a very tight work schedule.How Lily describes depression, how her mood varies from semingly okay to just wanting to die in the span of a few sentences in her journal is so accurate. And as someone who has attempted suicide many times, it really hurts to see all these people supposedly care about her and doing nothing to save her other than try to cheer her up, and once you are at a point where you have a concrete plan on how you are going to end it, that is not enough help. Brooklyn, the daughter he didn’t know he could ever love so much that her safety was the most important thing to him.

AND I need to say more this book has such a bad portrayal I mean I’m not a gatekeeper of mental health and not everyone is the same when suffering, but it can’t be cured by one man all of a sudden this also ties into how authors act like men are the cure to women's problems they are NOT she needed help not a boyfriend to cure her depression. Not gonna lie but the plot twist shatter my heart into pieces and I wasn’t sure if I could finish this book, but knowing that I will hate myself for not finishing it.This heart-pounding adventure takes place as two teens, an American teenage boy and his friend, a Chinese girl from his Washington, DC-area high school, must find her father who has been kidnapped–and they only have nine days. Well, more or less trying as childhood trauma lets her believe that the world is too cruel to be living in. Despite her best efforts, she gives up and decides the world is too harsh for her to survive because of traumatic events she had as a child. The younger people I get more, because they are trying to be loyal and not make things worse, but even the older adults who suspected did nothing.
