About this deal

The mechanism doesn’t seem to actually give very much though, resulting in a ton of pressure; I had to remove my glasses at one point because of the pain from the cups being pressed against my skull. Just standing in the main lobby area waiting to start a match, the organ-heavy soundtrack, and background ambiance immediately sucks you into the world. With music, this might not be as much of a criticism, but in games, some effects can appear a little thin. As for the games themselves, Rhys is especially keen on fighting and racing games, as well as soulslikes and RPGs. The headphones provide balance to the sound placement, with music establishing the foundation of the stage and environmental sound effects heightening the scale of the setting.

This is boosted by virtual surround sound options on consoles – Windows Sonic and 3D audio/Tempest for the Xbox X/S, PS4, and PS5 – and supposedly through the Epos Gaming Suite, when paired with the company’s GSX 300 external sound card (sold separately). For instance, the left cup features a magnetized surface that secures either the detachable mic or a metal plated cover. It can lead to an overall muddier soundscape, though; those lows often risk drowning out the mids and trebles. In its standard flat response, the bass offers good punch, but you really need to give it a major boost if you want it to respond the way most games intend. So, while I do recommend the H6Pro, I’d caution against purchasing it before getting a chance to try it on for yourself. Both open- and closed-back versions offer great audio, a superb microphone, and feel like they'll outlive most PC components by a long while.

The Closed headset faired better here, and I preferred it mostly because I didn’t need to have it on full volume to catch everything. This lightweight headset features an updated slim headband with improved padding, plus 2-axis hinged ear cups that conform to your unique anatomy. If you're taking your headphones out and about or you're sharing a space with another person, the closed-back pair works a treat in blocking out the hustle and bustle of the wider world. There was even a time when a character spoke to me, and I forgot I was wearing the headset and turned; I thought someone was in the room with me. Its spatial imaging operates naturally as your standard open-back headphones, giving you clear separation and layers between each individual element. In theory, that turns this gaming headset into one you could take out and about without feeling a little foolish. The H6PRO uses the best transducers on the market to deliver expansive, immersive, masterfully reproduced audio. Rebecca has written thousands of articles in the last six years including hundreds of extensive gaming guides, previews, and reviews for both Switch and Apple Arcade. With this adage of gain, the bass delivers a more prominent sub-bass, adding texture and rumble to many different sound design elements of games. If you flip between consoles and PC often, this will provide almost the same experience on each one.

The H6PRO Closed is designed to deliver exceptional hi-fidelity performance with an audio signature that’s controlled, powerful and focused, whereas the H6PRO Open delivers exceptional hi-fidelity performance with an audio signature that’s expansive and open.On Microsoft’s consoles, there’s a chat mixer that becomes available after you’ve plugged in a wired headset. The open back H6Pro offers a nice balance here, but as mentioned above, is best enjoyed in an isolated environment due to that leaking audio.
