A brand new addition to Laphroaig's core range, this 10 year old whisky has been finished in Oloroso sherry casks adding a layer of dark chocolate, leather and caramel onto the distillery's signature . That bold, smoky taste, followed by a hint of seaweed, with a surprising sweetness and long finish, has made Laphroaig the pinnacle experience for Islay single malt.

Being a coastal distillery, there is plenty of saltiness in the dram too, it really helps to enhance the peaty flavours, and balance the sweetness, making for a really pleasant and balanced dram. This 19th century cocktail is believed to have been created at New York City’s Waldorf Hotel (if you want to visit tod. Ages in seasoned oak barrels that were charred prior to distillation, this dram features lovely oaky notes as well as nut and vanilla and coastal hints. A distinctive character that still holds true to the spirit of Ian Hunter, who first created it over 75 years ago.

I met Laphroaig at a free tasting many years ago and it immediately became my favourite affordable whisky. Lore, meaning the passing of a skill or tradition through word of mouth is the name given to this extremely tasty Islay whisky.A classic dram, this full-bodied single malt has a surprising sweetness which leads into a long, warming finish. They take several casks of normal ex Bourbon matured Laphroaig, that has been maturing for between 5 and 11 years, and vat them together before pouring them into Quarter casks (125 litres). From a 25km-long, storm-buffeted island off the west coast of Scotland comes Laphroaig (pronounced ‘la-froyg’), a Gaelic word meaning ‘beautiful hollow by the broad bay’. Critic tasting note: "This expression offers an uncompromising note of brine-laden peat and iodine, with charcoal and sweeter fruit notes also present.
