About this deal

Another interesting mode available on the Canon Speedlite 580EX II Flash is Multi Mode - or Stroboscopic flash. The catchlight panel is only useful to a certain distance as the reflection size becomes too small to be useful at some point. E-TTL II and the previous E-TTL are Electronic-Through-the-Lens metering modes that fire a preflash to determine how powerful the immediately-following actual flash needs to be.

Press the Zoom Button once. When the coverage angle indicator (upper-right of the display) blinks, turn Select Dial to the angle of your choice. The choices are 24, 28, 35, 50, 70, 80, and 105mm, in 35mm full-frame equivalents. Divide by 1.6 for the Press this button once if you wish to manually set the flash coverage angle. The 580EX II will otherwise adjust its coverage to your lens' focal length automatically. Press and hold this button if you wish to select one of the three wireless options (available only AF assist projects a red pattern of light that creates enough contrast for the camera to autofocus on even a solid-colored wall. The Senderr will control all receivers set to the same channel. Receivers set to a different channel will not be affected.The Canon Speedlite 430EX Flash features 6 custom flash function settings, the 580EX II features 14. In addition, a huge range of flash modifiers can be used with accessory flashes to create a broader lighting surface for direct flash, bounce flash or a combination of both.

Overall the 430EX III RT is also a marvelous flash, just that it costs twice as much new as the 580EX II used. The 580EX II sports a more-rugged build quality with a metal foot being one of the most noticeable changes. Newer Canon DSLR bodies have the ability to control the flash from their menus - this becomes the easier method of controlling this flash option. The fact that the 580EX II can be powered from an external power source will be important to photographers expecting heavy flash use.

New Canon Flash

similar to the case the 430EX is shipped with, same as the most recent 580EX flashes shipped with, nicer than the vinyl case the first 280EX flashes shipped with).

expireDaysIfYes: typeof mcxPresetParam.expireDaysIfYes === 'number' ? mcxPresetParam.expireDaysIfYes : 30, //days

for (var nLen = aKeys.length, nIdx = 0; nIdx < nLen; nIdx++) { aKeys[nIdx] = decodeURIComponent(aKeys[nIdx]); } And the first thing we need to deal with regarding this new flash is the name - The original flash was touting its ETTL-"II" capabilities in its name and now we have the 580EX "II" - which is still E-TTL II. loss of or damage to the equipment due to abuse causing deterioration, mishandling, accident or failure to follow operating instructions. Communications reliability is supposed to be improved though I can't say if it has or hasn't as I haven't had problems with camera/flash communications in the past. Many people start out with a Canon Speedlite 430EX Flash (or started out with 420EX) and later move up to a 580EX or 580EX II.

The 320EX is much smaller, and impressively has as much maximum power (and therefore range) as the the EL-5 at the 24mm setting. At long settings the bigger flashes have more-focussed zoom heads for longer range. The new one is a little nicer (and likely easier to seal), but the physical change is not significant from a user perspective. The Canon options in my opinion are the Canon Speedlite 430EX Flash or the 580EX II (or possibly a used 580EX). Equipment covered by this Warranty will be repaired in the United States, WITHOUT CHARGE, by our Service Centers and Authorized Service Facilities.Tell the 580EX your camera's ISO and aperture (F/stop) settings and it will calculate its own flash output. To use fill flash, set your exposure for the ambient light, then dial in -1 to -2 EV FEC (Flash Exposure Compensation). Flashes can all fire at even power (Ratio Off), or you can set groups A, B and C to fire at different manual flash power levels. Press (don't hold) the Zoom/Wireless Select Button until Ratio blinks, then turn the Select Dial to make your choice. Press the Select/Set Button on the Master unit, then turn Select Dial to set the actual power level for each group. The 430EX II is just about as good once you get it set up, just with sloppier controls and no catchlight card. If you can use a business card and rubber band as pros have been doing for decades as a catchlight card, the 430EX II is a great flash, just harder to set since it has two plus/minus buttons instead of a rear dial.
