About this deal

Being a Michael Jackson fan I suppose you could say that I am biased - I remember reading it for the first time when I was a mere MJ obsessed 13 year old and devouring the book within a few days and it leaving me with wanting more, much more. Of course this book was originally published in 1988, so this is his prospective for the year before that. Very few are captioned, and it would have been interesting at least to know which year some of the shots were taken.

When I finished it, closed the cover and realized that I was done, I really just sat there for who knows how long, with the book pressed against my chest, my heart. Nice and clean pages as new with two small marks on the outer edges,a couple of small creases and nicks on the edges of the pages, small pencil mark impression on the edge of the first blank page of the book. Some more would have been welcome, but he does not go into detail on this side of his career until its relaunch with 'Off The Wall' in 1979 and the phenomenally successful albums which followed it, namely the all-sales-breaking 'Thriller' and 'Bad'. I highly recommend this book, and am pleased to pass on the news that I've heard his estate just got the judge to approve a reprinting of this autobiography, so it should become more available in the near future.

Its so sad because the public eye know so little about this legend and right after his sudden we still know not that much. Moonwalk was re-released on October 13, 2009, as a result of Michael Jackson's death, with a new foreword by Motown founder Berry Gordy and an afterword by Shaye Areheart. The first manuscript of the book was written by Robert Hilburn and was refused by the publishers, Doubleday, because it lacked "juicy details".

I'm glad that Michael eventually agreed for the book to be printed after a last minute hesitation about it. The King of Pop starts his autobiography in a very humbling manner, with the desire to be able to tell a story to his public, like a step by step, without considering himself a great author.By the time our song had come out (Heartache Hotel), people thought that if I kept living the way I was I might die the same way he did. It was only the very last part of the book that it seemed Michael was speaking to the reader and revealing just a little more of himself. However, my point of view is different regarding the one he had with Jos

While rehearsing with The Jackson 5, Jackson stated that when they messed up they "got hit, sometimes with a belt, sometimes with a switch. Following the half-title is a leaf with a facsimile drawing by MJ and, and then his facsimile signature appears on the title page. This tells you how he was always working hard from a really young age and how he did miss out on his childhood. The comparison is short-lived, as Michael Jackson goes so far as to speak of a sketch to be refined in the editorial scheme of a book. A poor condition book can still make a good reading copy but is generally not collectible unless the item is very scarce.I guess for someone whose privacy was literally non-existing, writing a book like this is already a big breakthrough.

So as a reader, I will try to demonstrate that MJ’s wish was granted and that I was consequently enriched by that reading.Of course, he had managers and such, but what I mean, is someone he could spend time with as a human being -- I don't think he found that until his children were born. I don’t know what they must have thought – that I had someone back in the garage who was writing them for me? The 2009 reissue will include the original Foreword by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, a new Introduction by Motown founder Berry Gordy, and an Afterword by Michael Jackson’s editor and publisher, Shaye Areheart.
