About this deal

I was never really interested in YSL but I wore the samples, gave some away, and then I forgot about it. A designer version of BDK's gris charnel without the intricacies of the plum and tea notes, which make GS so enticing, but gives off the same vibe with a similar DNA. Give five people who know nothing about notes in perfumery samples of Bleu Electrique and another five samples of this, I'd be surprised if even one noticed a single difference. This often creates a smooth and round texture, which is hard to achieve with the dilution represented in the other concentrations of fragrance. So it is very safe to say that reformulations have ruined the performance of this once beastly fragrance.

It opens up with sweet fresh spicy and warm spices notes in the background then dry down is sweet creamy woody. You wouldn't drink a glass of warm white wine nor an ice-cold glass of red, so why would you wear a blaring loud fragrance in the heat of summer? But 1-2 minutes in, and it evaporates to leave you with this heavy woody-sweet base, that feels imo generic and not refined. This is of course a perfect date night scent, but the idea behind it *as a date night scent* is not to spray tens or over twenty times to compensate for the poor longevity. As for its staying power, it performs with a respectable, if not earth-shattering, endurance of 6-8 hours, with passable sillage. I have a 2010-era bottle that I recently pulled out, so cannot speak to the current blend if it’s been changed. Compared to Profumo, this has a much spicier opening, is far more fruity and resinous throughout, and has a heavier, more vanillic dry-down, whereas with Profumo, the fruitiness and spices are toned down, and the sweetness is more powdery and 'clean'. It's nice, very smooth and I wouldn't be ashamed to wear this out, but it just doesn't seem to have the character that I prefer. I don't understand why people rated it so low, as this and Le Parfum are two of the best from La Nuit line.

I was initially skeptical that this flanker could live up to the original that I enjoyed dearly and associate with some of the happiest years in my life.It also doesn't have that generic heavy quality that I've noticed in some highly masculine fragrances either, as it seems to fit my skin like an airy glove. I compared it with Bleu Electrique and I initially preferred the OG, but now that I wore it a lot on last few days, the Bleu Electrique is better cause less sweet, more balanced. Yeah bleu electric smells a tad better, but blue electric is so weak, I bought a bottle of this and blue electric today, tested them and blue electric is so faint after 5mins and sits really close to the skin and in 30mins is a skin scent and gone after an hour and a half, really disappointed with that one.
