Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee released Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon in 1984, at a time when the Bourbon industry appeared to be on a downward slope. But Blanton’s higher-rye mash bill proved a success, and the brand has risen from strength to strength over the years. Because of the demand, the 20 and 25 year-old bourbon and rye whiskeys are not released every year. Fortunately, the 10 year-old whiskeys seem to be coming in annually. However, with the exception of the Small Batch bottlings, they will all cost you a pretty penny. Why We Like It: This rye is a gem in the world of spirits, where finding a barrel aged for over 20 years is a true rarity.
