About this deal

Genius Square is an awesome game to play by yourself too. As you play, you get to know the different shapes, and you get faster and faster at solving the puzzles. Or at least, most of the puzzles… are you ready for the challenge of The Genius Square? Another fun question to ask is "Can you place the seven cylinders to make an impossible puzzle?" This is a bit harder than you might expect, and it's fun to watch your kids test the boundaries of the game by inverting the challenge. George (9): I might not win all the time but I do like The Genius Square. It looks a bit like Tetris and I like how it changes each time with the dice rolls. I do like puzzle games and this is one of my favourites. As I've saidinnumerable times, spatial reasoning is positively associated with math ability, and it seems that students who can visualize mental models can use those models to solve math problems in class. The Genius Square has a possible 62,208 puzzles to complete, so you can be playing for years to come. And each of the 62,208 puzzles has at least one way to solve it – there will never be a puzzle that can’t be solved.

THE GENIUS SQUARE | The Happy Puzzle Company, 2 player game THE GENIUS SQUARE | The Happy Puzzle Company, 2 player game

The board itself is a 6x6 grid; the numbers along the top and letters on the left hand side corresponding to the combinations of letters and numbers on the dice. To start each game you roll all seven dice and using those results, place the seven wooden pegs onto the board. For example, if you rolled A1, A2, B4, C6, E1 and F1, then you would place them on those squares. It’s very important if playing with someone else to make sure your grids match each other, so take a second or two to do so. Once that’s done, you are ready to play. GameplayThe game also comes with a set of seven dice, each of which has Battleship-style coordinates on each face. You roll the dice and then place the seven cylinders in the spots indicated by the seven coordinates.

Genius Square Game – The Toy Room

I think The Genius Square is that perfect breakfast table game, where kids can easily have five minutes of fun while chowing down on their cereal. I like having this sort of game lying around the house, just waiting to be played with... Simple is often better, it has been said. And The Genius Square, or Genius Square as I’ve always called, is on the face of it a very simple game. But don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s easy or without challenge. I’ve had some games last over 20 minutes and have beaten some in less time than it took me to set up the board. I’ve never had a game beat me yet, although with over 62,000 variations of this puzzle to play maybe the one that will defeat me is lurking in my future. Casual gamer or die hard puzzler, this game has something for anyone looking to try something new. SetupFor example, if you are buying a toy for a toddler that is too advanced, they may get bored and turn to other activities while they wait for the toy to be played with. Thus, early learning toys are appropriate for toddlers, instead of too complex toys. As I said above, I’ve yet to play a game that has bested me. The blurb on the box says that each of the over 62,000 games has a solution. Sometimes more than one. Of all the games I’ve played, which must be over 100 by now, only once did all the players come up with exactly the same solution. And that was the game that took the longest to win, so we all agreed that was likely the only solution. When you're shopping educational toys for your child, the first thing to consider is the age of the toy. Educational toys should be age appropriate, otherwise they will not be helpful in developing skills or learning concepts.

The Genius Square | Waterstones

This puzzle game encourages sequencing, spatial awareness, speed of thought, strategic planning and visual perception. In that regard it contributes toward STEM learning without the player’s really knowing it. That’s always a bonus! So you think you are a clever clogs do you? Well perhaps you should face The Genius Square. Fail, and you will stand in the corner with a cone shaped hat on your dunderhead. Succeed and you get to don your best certificate smile instead! You know, that smile you get when you were awarded a certificate at school and were really pleased but also wanted to look cool and not beam from ear to ear in front of your classmates! Gameplay About the Brand: Happy Puzzle Toys is a UK-based company that produces a wide range of educational and brain-teasing puzzles and games. Happy Puzzle Toys was founded in 1992, and as of 2023, the company has been in existence for over 30 years. Happy Puzzle Toys has enjoyed many successes with their products over the years. The real genius is The Genius Square itself. It boasts 62,208 possible different puzzles with at least one guaranteed solution to each and every one. That is some clever computer that worked out all the possible combinations and solutions. The Genius Square is a really good puzzle game for kids. It is fast to play and well worth owning for those with younger players in the house. With so many combinations to play that always have at least one solution, The Genius Square is indeed genius and is great fun to challenge yourself, friends and family. It is as much fun for children as it is for teenagers and adults. Brain-teasing enjoyment for the entire family.

This game is good for people who like a challenge and have a competitive spirit! It’s got many benefits from playing and is also just really fun. It’s also a great game if you’re on the go because it’s such a small box that it’s really easy to transport Are there any learning or benefits to the game? I don’t regularly pull it from the shelf to play with my wife, we’ve got better two player games. It is fun however, when the kids set it down in front of me, and I like the challenge of it. Genius Square is recommended to be played by 1-2 people and is suitable for children and adults of the ages 6 and older. Genius Square is manufactured by “the Happy Puzzle Company”. Although this isn’t noted on the box, we find it’s usually a very fast game and only takes a few minutes. What is inside the board game? A really fun game to challenge yourself or your friends. A game that gets your brain working and one that can be completed in under a minute so you can easily play several rounds without getting bored. I love this game so much, but there is one thing I would definitely improve with it. The box only comes ready to play for two people, so they should add more sets so that you can play with more than just one or two people. We even bought another whole Genius Square game just so that we could play with three or four people instead of just one or two.

Genius Square Review - David Savage The Genius Square Review - David Savage

As you can see from the comments above, my boys have genuine fun with The Genius Square. They are often battling it out between themselves, giving Mum and Dad a break as they amuse themselves away from the lure of electronics. Endless Fun - With over 62,000 puzzles to explore, the fun never has to end while playing the Genius Square game. If you like a challenge to get those brain cells firing and want a game that can be played solo or together, then I can highly recommend The Genius Square from The Happy Puzzle Company. The Genius Square is a very Happy Puzzle indeed (and there is even an XL version of the game if you like to play your games on a bigger scale). Instead of looking at specific developmental areas that children might need help with, look at their interests and how those interests can be incorporated into the toy. This will ensure that play and learn go hand in hand, allowing learning toys to develop important skills in children during their play-time.As I hinted at above, Genius Square doesn’t take long to set up, no matter if you are playing with someone or on your own. Technically with two players the game suggests you go head to head to see who can solve the puzzle first. You can play against the game itself, something I will go into more detail when we come to gameplay. However you play, the setup is the same. Each player takes one of the Genius Square Boards, the nine multicoloured geometric shapes, the six wooden pegs and the half dozen six sided dice. These dice will determine the layout of the puzzle board.
