The Series 9 has 7 cleaning modes (daily clean, sensitive, super sensitive, intense, whiten, gum care & tongue clean) compared to the 5 of the Series 7 (daily clean, sensitive, intense, whiten & gum care). The extra modes the iO9 has are super sensitive and tongue clean. For me, the fancy charging stand isn’t too big a factor. If bathroom visuals are important to you, maybe the magnetic stand is worth paying for. Otherwise, you can get by just fine with the cheaper stand. All iO models have a reminder system built into the app and the brush handle. How this reminder is displayed differs.
We like to offer up a figure for what we believe to be an average cost of ownership of this toothbrush. So I present an example here based on the more typical ‘average’ price. Be aware this will fluctuate, but it at least gives you an idea. Reliability is something that we expect in products, but the fast moving consumer goods are often prone to cost saving measures and putting out ‘cheap’ products to maximise profits. Cleverly, the brush will too automatically reduce the head speed and stop the pulsation until the pressure is reduced. The Genius 8000 launched as a cut-down, value version of the original Genius 9000 brush, and it still feels like a high-end toothbrush despite its price. It also gives an excellent clean, with a choice of six brush modes and three brush heads – CrossAction, 3D White and Sensitive – to cover a wide range of dental needs. Its Lithium-Ion battery still needs charging overnight but will last for over an hour of brushing from there on in, which should cover you for a couple of weeks.

iO Series:>Oral-B’s flagship range, using a new magnetic motor and redesigned heads for a gentle yet effective clean. Smart features come as standard, while the higher-end models come with magnetic chargers and other premium accessories. Powered by 2 AA batteries it could sit on a shelf or attach to a wall with an adhesive pad and was a small unobtrusive addition to the kit that worked well. It does nothing more than what the app does, but I believe a very convenient solution to encourage better cleaning when the app is not in use. Sadly it is not included.

The extra mode the iO5 has is intense. Can I suggest you disconnect the toothbrush from the app. There is an option to forget the handle within the brush settings. I’m beginning to wonder if the 6000N (as opposed to the 6000) is not able to sync with the Smart Guide? Reply Colour or not, they operate in the same way and provide extra functionality. For example, you can change the handle language, change the colour of the smart ring or even reset the brush.Electric toothbrushes are clinically proven to be superior to manual toothbrushes, providing benefits in removing more plaque for cleaner teeth and healthier gums. Oral-Belectric toothbrushes remove up to 100% more plaque than a regular manual brush, which is why they are recommended by UK dentists and hygienists. Oral-B electric rechargeable toothbrushes (from Pro 600 model upwards) also whiten teeth starting from day one by removing surface stains. Electric toothbrushes are suitable from ages 3+, with specific kids electric toothbrush models available, and are gentle on gums and suitable for sensitive teeth. Electric rechargeable toothbrushes come with replacement toothbrush heads, which should be replaced every three months. The iO3 and 4 are the main exceptions though. No case comes supplied with the standard model. But there are variants where this is supplied. The dynamic 3D movement helps adapt to your teeth as it oscillates, rotates and pulsates to break up and remove up to 100% more plaque than a manual toothbrush. I’ve tried holding the power button down for 10 seconds and tried again with both toothbrushes with no success.
My experience and my dentist said don’t be to tight with the toothpaste, put plenty (many don’t put enough). Added value is always appreciated. Bit miffed however that Oral-B does not offer the iO9 in violet or the iO8 in pink. These things exist at price points that should include all of the colors Oral-B has being available for each of their models. She’d enjoy and love a violet iO8, but it’s the rose of the iO9 that will get a sparkle going in her eye.

The iO9 and 10 can hold the handle and 1 brush head only. This is because you can charge the brush inside the case. There is no battery in the case to do this. Instead, you connect the supplied proprietary power adapter.
iii) the app allows me to setup dental plans, which may include tongue clean, but the Smart 6 6000 doesn’t have the tongue-cleaning mode – doesn’t stop me cleaning but feels like it needs some explaining/guidance in the app (e.g. ‘clean even if your brush doesn’t have a tongue clean mode’); It is important to be flossing (cleaning between the teeth). We generally recommend flossing before brushing, but ultimately flossing at any time is better than not at all. The base of the brush is sealed but has a recess into which the prong on the charging stand fits to charge the brush. At the end of the day, the decision is personal and different people will have different perceptions of value. Pay a price you are happy to pay and can afford.The iO Series are the only ones from Oral-B to be quieter, all other brushes produce the same noise. Reply Brush in the morning and in the evening 2 min each and use floss (many ppl who have bad smell is due to the food between the tooth which causes the smell). I now have my own child and I’ve tried to encourage my child to brush their teeth but it’s not been easy to be consistent when I’m not brushing regularly enough myself and I have pretty poor technique.
