About this deal

The flashlight comes in the standard blue and white box and was secured in a way that the includes and flashlight won’t bounce around in the box. Anker designed the switch to advance the mode by one position with each momentary press made within two seconds of each other. Additionally, it offers 5 power levels, allowing users to adjust the brightness according to their needs. Thanks for the review and comparison, while I do not have either if these lights I can say that from the looks of it the smaller power button is a pain.

My only complaint is that it is somewhat difficult to switch between light modes but other than that, it is a great flashlight and worth every penny. Unfortunately, this Anker LC90 flashlight review is an example of why independent testing and skepticism are important, and reviews on an e-commerce site may not be as reliable as you would hope.A drop to less than 50% of the initial output in less than 2 minutes is not acceptable performance for me.

The LC-90 is (obviously) much brighter than the LC-40, but for personal use I’ve found LC-40 plenty bright on many different occasions. I don’t know why the company allowed this to happen, but in my mind, it casts doubt on all of the products it makes. That includes the outer shaft, the battery, one of the battery terminals, and the button end of the light. If you leave the end terminal attached to the light you will find a micro-USB port for charging the device. It is well constructed, easy to use, and the service from Anker is absolutely 100% helpful (I needed a replacement battery).

On one of my current flashlights I had replaced, the company sent me an updated version that also uses a smaller power button and often times it gets stuck or jamed…do you see that possibly happening with this? Over the last few years I’ve own 4 Anker Flashlights 3 were the same product and gave three lights away as Christmas gifts once I completed my tests and made sure they will work for those that I were giving them to. Anker lists the flashlight specifications in a table that seems to suggest compliance with the FL1 flashlight standard issued by ANSI/PLATO. Let me repeat that – in my testing, the Anker LC90 took less than 2 minutes to drop its output to below 50% its initial, maximum output.

However, the tests do allow readers to make reasonable comparisons between the lights I have previously reviewed. Since we’re right in the middle, I want to do a test to see who actually read these reviews, and who just looks at the pictures.

Update: Anker aftersales support was kind and interested enough to send me another LC90, which, this time works as it should.

I keep several in the bedroom, one or two in the living room by the doors, and one in the office for working on computers and other projects. Most lights that allow you to charge the battery like this are not submersible because the charging port isn’t sealed.
