About this deal

But if you’re after a good general-purpose lens that’s perfect for street photography, the XF 23mm f2 will serve you well. In recent years, Fujifilm has been proving themselves to be very active in their lens development, with the company now boasting a fairly comprehensive range of lenses. The newer XF 23mm f2 comes with a very modest circular hood, measuring just 15mm in depth and tapering inwards at the end.

If you don’t plan on doing any head and shoulders portrait work, and you want an incredibly versatile lens, grab the 23mm f2. The lens focuses quite fast on the XE1, but definitely the X-Pro2 bring that speed up two notches and makes it almost instant. All in all, I can say that street photography changed my style and passion for photography big time. Sure, you can use this lens for some of the same genres of photography as the 23mm, such as street photography, event photography, travel, and documentary work, but where this lens really comes into its own is with portraiture. As well, I photographed many cyclists, and the XF 23mm was the perfect field of view for this type of photography. The bayonet style fitting of the 23mm F2 WR lens hood feels a little more substantive than the screw-in hood of the 35mm F2 WR, but both are a little plasticy and it would have been nice to see a little more effort when compared to the quality build of the lenses themselves. If I had to choose between the XF 35mm or XF 23mm for night photography, I probably would go with the XF 35mm (check out my Hong Kong night photos). This lens is not only weather and dust resistant, but it also suitable for use in temperatures as low as -10 degrees. I tested the lens on an X-Pro2 using the latest firmware and focus was snappy and reliable in all lighting conditions.

I’ve owned the Fuji XF 23mm f2 R WR for a year now and have taken it with me to Jamaica and throughout Europe and thought it time I did a review on one of the best Fuji lenses for travel. Most of the time, if you play around with f-stops, you’ll find the ideal sharpness for your subject. When the first lockdown was over I started to visit cities that are not more than 200km away from my hometown. This prime wide-angle lens is a 35mm equivalent focal length and is designed for APS-C format FUJIFILM X mount mirrorless cameras.

In the case of street photography in color, which I also do, the images of Constantine Manos and Nikos Economopoulos had the biggest impact on me. A few people have reported that this lens is soft when shooting wide open at close focus distances (2 feet or less). This older and bulkier version of these prime lenses is quite similar to its newer brother, with relative features. But now the lens is finally hitting mainstream retailers in decent numbers, I thought it would be a good time to take a proper look at Fujifilm's latest lens. The WR in its name means that it is weather resistant, making it a good choice for Fujifilm bodies which also have weather resistance.delivers a shallower depth-of-field and smoother rendering, and while it won’t focus as close, it remains sharper at all distances and apertures. Indeed it also implements a simpler optical construction with eight elements in six groups with one aspherical element.
