About this deal

It also hugely depends on the software and how it allocates memory to avoid noticeable note cut offs. While testing the B2, I didn’t have issues with polyphony. All references to the Licensed Program shall mean the object code only of the program(s) comprising the Licensed Program. I am looking to buy a digital piano and I am currently debating between the Korg B2 and the Roland FP 30. Authentic sound and touch are very important to me. And it is important to note that where I live, the Korg B2 is much cheaper than the Fp 30.

The Italian Concert, Jazz, and Ballad piano sounds (the best of the bunch in my opinion) have only 40 notes of polyphony, whereas everything else has 60. As I mentioned above, the piano sounds are mostly gorgeous (albeit with one not-so-good Italian Piano sound thrown in there), and the electric sounds are simple but not overly simplistic. We reviewed the Korg B1 (and by extension, the B1SP model, which featured some extra accessories) a while ago, and we found it to be a decent beginner piano with terrific sounds, but a limited feature set that lagged behind the competition. Our review focuses mainly on the base Korg B2 model, but the following design comments should apply to all models.

The app is innovative, too, as you don’t even need to connect your digital piano to the app by USB (though it would be ideal). Not just that, this digital piano also has a detachable music rest features a wide, spacious design.

Andertons YouTube videos helped me make my purchasing decision – in their blind tests, the Korg B2's piano samples sounded best to me ears. I haven't been disappointed… I'm no musician, but the concert pianos sound superb, as does the church organ. The other keyboard samples are also excellent. It is better to compare Korg B2 to Roland FP 10 which are same class devices. The price for these two is similar, and personally I would choose FP 10 if I were choosing between them. As I mentioned in the article I liked FP 10 for more natural keyboard and piano sound, it also offers a little more voices. In addition, we appreciated the straightforward button labeling, which creates a more piano-like appearance than the conventional layout found on novice keyboards. The keys, which chose the lipped form of the key found on an acoustic piano, also look the part. Even yet, the B2 is very pleasurable to play, even though it may not have the finest sounding piano ever at this price point. The key motion is mild enough to not deter inexperienced players while being fluid and responsive. The Korg B2’s simple playing style will appeal to beginners without a doubt. The B2 and B2SP use Korg’s NH ( Natural Weighted Hammer Action) keyboard, which is identical to the keys of the previous B1 series.

Demo songs: Each of the piano’s presets has a corresponding demo song, that can be played with the help of a single button press. I’ve never owned a digital piano before but this is the second B2 I’ve had now from two different retailers and the sound is audible when learning to play. Having worked in the music industry for over 10 years, Lucas found passion in helping others choose the most suitable music gear for them. An Italian-made piano with beautifully bright expression and satisfying sustain. Pianists around the world are enraptured by its rich resonance and sensitive responsiveness. The sounds provided are "Italian concert piano," a bright-toned "Jazz piano," and a beautifully resonant "Ballad piano. Electric piano The USB port also allows you to connect mobile apps, such as the Skoove online lessons and the Korg Module app, for more sounds.

With a limited sound set, Korg enables integration of their Korg Module app for iOS using the USB to Host port, which we’ll cover in the Connectivity section of our review. In play, the keys are alright. The keybed is velocity-sensitive, so harder keypresses emit louder sounds. This response can be modified on the front panel, and you can choose between 3 preset levels (light, normal, and heavy). Here is why I say it is good for beginners and intermediate players because this piano has a mode called Partner Mode, which splits the keyboard into two halves, and each having the same key range. As for the Jazz, it has a bright-toned to it, and the Ballad piano it has a beautifully resonant sound. If you don’t like the sound that includes in the Korg B2, you can change the sound to your liking using the app.

Metronome. The Metronome button on the front panel turns the metronome on or off and also enables the modification of settings via button key combinations. Skoove is an online piano tutorial platform that’s gaining traction, and the Korg B2 comes with 3 months free. Korg warrants that the Licensed Program when properly used will provide the facilities and functions as described in the accompanying documentation but does not warrant that the operation of the Licensed Program will be uninterrupted or error-free. The Korg B2 does come with a three-pedal setup and a furniture-style stand. Thus it can adapt seamlessly inside the living room and add to the room’s elegance and décor. One notable feature of this piano is its large speaker grill, which is located right at the front panel of the board, above its key bed and controls. The other downside of the Korg B2 is that it doesn’t have a battery slot on it, so you have to use an AC adapter every you use it.

Korg's no-nonsense digital piano offers fantastic sounds but lacks in features

The metronome can be turned on/off with one touch. There's a touch control function that gives you three levels of adjustment for how your playing dynamics affect the sound (light, normal, heavy), letting users perform with a response that suits their own style. Also provided are settings for two effects: reverb and chorus. In the Box For example, when you depress the sustain pedal, the earliest played notes continue to sound while you’re adding new ones and the piano needs more memory to keep all the notes sounding. You can use a USB cable* to connect this instrument's USB port to your smartphone, tablet, or computer, and use the B2 as a MIDI keyboard to play an external sound module. Your performance on the B2 can be recorded as music data on your smartphone, and sound from your smartphone can be heard through the speakers of the B2. Metronome: The button for the metronome is on the front panel of the piano and helps with diverse modifications in the settings of the piano. It is possible to change the tempo from 40 to 240 beats per minute. Keys are somewhat even, as Korg’s NH action feels to Yamaha’s GHS action as featured on the P-45. I recommend testing both out to see which you prefer.
