About this deal

Color and Contrast is slighter lower than my Vortex Viper 10x42, and colors on my sample looks slightly warmer. The information is current as of the date of publication. It is subject to change without notice. Share Brightness is slightly less bright than a Vortex Viper 10x, but it is no slouch! It's is bright enough. If you're after a mid-range pair of large binoculars ideal for wildlife viewing, the Celestron Nature DX ED 12x50 fits the bill perfectly. As expected, a large and obvious ridged focusing wheel sits between the eyepieces – it’s sufficiently obvious that your fingers can readily locate it to adjust focus while your eyes are otherwise glued to observation via the eyepieces themselves.

If you're looking in the affordable, lightweight binocular category, you might encounter the Bushnell All Purpose Binoculars. Popular among hunters, this pair is half the price of the Nikon Prostaff 3s and has similar features, including long eye relief and fog resistance. But they don't claim to be waterproof and they don't come with a case or lens caps, and they don't have the best lens quality. Despite these cons , they are still great bins to look through, very lightweight, balanced and ergonomic. They also are very comfortable to look through, even though their eye relief is listed @ 15.5 mm In the case of 3s binoculars, the 8×42 weighs 565 grams while the 10×42 weighs 575 grams. As for the 7s, its 8×42 weighs 650 grams while the 10×42 weighs 645 grams. So if you prefer a lighter model, the Prostaff 3s is a better option. The lens caps are also of regrettable quality. Not a big thing, but neither is it understandable to crimp on quality for something as doable as caps. About the Company These binoculars are armored and come with a non-slip construction, available in 8x42 and 10x42 configurations. The highly reflective silver alloy mirror coating on the surface of the prism lenses delivers a light and clear view that's comfortable to enjoy for long periods thanks to the long eye relief.

The Prostaff 10X50 is lighter, has more eye relief, but has less actual field of view and the apparent field of view of 52 degrees would to me, give me the perception of looking down a tunnel. So the weight of the Action Extremes (Porro) is the issue. That limited FOV and apparent FOV on the Prostaff comes with greater eye relief, so in effect a trade off. Also worth pointing out is that the rubber eyecups have a turn and slide mechanism, which makes for easy adjustment and positioning . The Nikon Prostaff P3 binoculars are entry-level and we were really impressed when reviewing them. Nikon has saved on manufacturing costs where it counts, mainly in the accessories that these binoculars ship with, but has retained the high-quality optics that I expect to see in a Nikon product. The magnification tells you how many times closer the object you are looking at is to you. Let’s say you are looking at an object 500 yards away with a 10×42 model binoculars, you will see the object appear 50 yards away throw your binoculars. So between the 8×42 and 10×42 models of both the Nikon Prostaff 3s vs 7s models, the 10×42 models will bring you closer to your target than the 8×42 models. Chromatic Aberration Let’s be honest, lots of people concern about the prices and certainly, a strong weight to the buying decision can be dependent on the price.

Seeking a pair of good value ‘bins’ for outdoor use when birding? California-based Celestron has a reputation for well-constructed yet affordable binoculars and this roof prism pair is no exception, in offering a wide field of view and being lightweight yet tough thanks to a magnesium alloy build, plus nitrogen filled to prevent fogging and waterproof with it. Prostaff 3s series binoculars are waterproof (up to 1m/3.3 ft. for 10 minutes) and fog-free with O-ring seals and nitrogen gas purged. With these binoculars, rugged performance does not have to come at a price. It is built with an Eco-Glass optical system, which is free from arsenic and lead. On top of that, their lenses are multi-coated to deliver above average light transmission, resulting in bright and crisp images in strong light. This lens coating technology works hand-in-hand with the roof prism coated with high-reflectivity silver alloy, further optimizing brightness and clarity. Not the best we’ve seen, but very impressive at this price point. If you angle yourself against the sun a certain way, you can make out a translucent diagonal "line" that runs in the top left of the FOV. It's not a big deal though. The ability to get a close focus on nearby objects as well as a reasonably wide field of view makes the Celestron Nature DX ED 12x50 binoculars useful for a wide range of outdoor uses, as does the tough build quality and the ED glass, which gives excellent images in our review, which were bright, colorful and sharp. The Prostaff 3s binoculars have a longer eye relief, meaning they’re more suitable for eyeglass wearers. They also have a larger field of view at 126 m per 1000 m. In contrast, Prostaff 7s have a FOV of 119 m per 1000 m. Featuring a narrower objective lens diameter than their high-powered astronomy cousin (Celestron SkyMaster 20x80 Pro), the Celestron TrailSeeker model includes a wider eye relief, higher angle of view, and lower price point. Carrying the 3s series would definitely feel less stressful than the 7s series while on long expeditions. Warranty Similarly, the 3s and 7s have their optical tubes filled with nitrogen and sealed with o-rings for fog proof and waterproof capabilities. Their eyecups are covered with a tethered single-piece rain guard to prevent the entry of rainwater or other liquid that could damage the lenses.
