About this deal

When Suzy hears a strange rattling noise in the middle of the night, she creeps downstairs to find a train roaring through her house! BOOK OF THE MONTH - the much awaited latest installment in this popular diary-style series for ages 7+. But when protecting Frederick means putting her friends in danger, Suzy has to make a difficult choice—with the fate of the entire Union at stake. Like other middle grade books, The Train to Impossible Places has the classic theme; the truth will always prevail. There’s a self-organised queue of children wanting to borrow the book as soon as it goes back into the library, and I’m convinced this will be one of our most-borrowed books this year once the other classes find out about it.

Train to Impossible Places, The: A Cursed Delivery Hardcover

The story really does take you on a train ride to adventure, at a great pace, so much so I just really had to force myself to put it down to get on with my own story writing. Suzy jumps on the train and she's off on an adventure to deliver packages to all kinds of impossible places. It is kinda sorta but not really like Harry Potter, in that the protagonist is a child who enters into a world of magic.

Being something of a scientist, and deeply inquisitive, Suzy can’t let this opportunity pass and climbs aboard.

Train to Impossible Places | Usborne | Be Curious The Train to Impossible Places | Usborne | Be Curious

Bell author of The Train to Impossible Places and The Great Brain Robbery is on board a traveling post office (just like the Impossible Postal Express) to introduce you to the main characters of the Train to Impossible Places adventures. The climactic confrontation pits oceangoing mammals, seabirds, fish, and even zooplankton against hardware and technology in a nicely choreographed battle. A cast of unforgettable characters includes a brown bear that is yellow (she’s a blonde), underwater ghosts, and a group of overexcited retired postal trolls. And when it makes an unscheduled stop in Suzy’s living room, the young girl sneaks aboard and finds herself given the job of Deputy Post Master. I love his monthly TBR game he does where I learn about more middle grade books I should pick up and read.
