It’s definitely tuned for gaming, though, as I did find music listening to be a little bit of an Achilles heel. On the whole, it’s good, with a great level of bass that many are sure to love. Playing an “Electronic Pop” playlist revealed an engaging high-end, without many traces of sharpness, and a low end that delivers plenty of punch.
Gaming is all about immersion, and the Kraken certainly helps to immerse you in the game. Titanfall 2 sounded great, with subtle detail in player footsteps, and plenty of boom from the chaotic destruction. The memory foam earpads are big enough to completely and comfortably cover most ears. They're surrounded in faux leather along the sides and breathable fabric on the surfaces. The headband's underside is padded with slightly firmer foam, with the same leatherette. It’s slightly bulky, but feels pleasantly plush. It’s comfortable to wear, and the 322g weight never felt particularly heavy on my head. The upper section of the Kraken is also height adjustable, offering plenty of modification for various sizes of head. It has been tested extensively to withstand the rigors of pro-gaming. The headband was designed for balanced weight distribution and reduced clamping force to maximise comfort during lengthy gaming sessions. One of Razer’s biggest strengths is its headset microphones, and that’s the case with the Kraken Kitty Edition V2 Pro. Test recordings sounded clean and clear, with no fuzziness or sibilance. It’s a strong signal and a natural sound. And although we still recommend separate USB mics for serious recording or streaming, the headset’s mic can work for content creation in a pinch. The ears' exteriors match the headset's color, while the forward-facing inside surface features translucent white plastic with RGB lighting. The lights match the earcups' outsides, but you can program each ear and earcup to display different colors and effects using Chroma Studio in Razer’s Synapse software. If you want the ears to light up on the go, Cosplay Mode lets you run the lights from a USB power bank. Cosplay Mode only supports static colors, color cycling, and color “breathing” modes; you can't customize colors.
The Kraken Pro V2 is a top-notch headset. It’s built remarkably well, looks great, and delivers an outstanding performance in games – all while remaining very comfortable over long gaming sessions. Through a series of playful gestures, she begins to perform the #RazerKrakenKitty dance—clawing playfully at the camera, shaping and moving her hands like paws, before flapping her hands above her head like cat ears.HyperX Cloud II Matt ElliottLike all of Razer's products, the Kraken Pro V2 uses its suite of Synapse software to let you make adjustments to the soundscape. The Kraken Pro V2 doesn't offer surround-sound per se, but you can install an add-on named Razer Surround Pro and calibrate it for a virtual 7.1-surround experience. It includes presets for a ton of Razer's headsets, but at the time of this writing, only the Kraken Pro, and not the Kraken Pro V2, was available from the pull-down menu in the software. The software also offers a graphic equalizer, and optional enhancements like bass boost, sound normalization, and one called "voice clarity." It's well done and gives more flexibility to the set, at least when using it on PC.
